67/14/13/5/1 blend of Dolcetto, Montepulciano, Aglianico, Graciano and Lemberger. Garnet red, light to moderately extracted pigment. Rounded, soft mouthfeel. The Dolcetto dominates to my palate, but a bit of research suggests a hint of licorice flavor and maybe black cherry from the Dolcetto, plum from the Montepulciano and Aglianico, a hint of cocoa or chocolate from the Aglianico. Decent, good acidity, some tannins on finish, good value. Better than many comparable Italian imports. Love that screw cap too! 1055 cases made. No AVA or vineyard designation on label, just “American”. Winery tasting notes also mention orange peel notes and “dusty tannins”; barrel smoke emerges after a couple of hours.
