If this is their entry level Syrah, I can’t wait to taste the Reva and Lorraine in my cellar!! Wow!! Great qpr!! <$50.

This is really good. Almost black with rich purple highlights. Limited fragrance out of the bottle but only 30 minutes in the decanter opens this right up and its delicious. Nose is dark fruit, earth, mushroom and vanilla. On the palate cassis, vanilla, spices, floral notes and an almost creamy finish with some dry tannins but also lasting sweetness and evolving fruit flavours, there’s even some delicate mint tea in there as well. Highly recommended.

Merry Christmas!

Hoping someone who drinks a lot of Alban can chime in here. I drink a decent amount (courtesy of a buddy), and have found the Reva to consistently show aromatics of EA (ethyl acetate), so much so that I just assume it’s a style done on purpose. Seems like the Patrina is the same (but Lorraine, Seymour’s, Pandora does not have that profile).

Throughout the evening, the distinct EA aromatic held true. Very sharp high toned profile with red, blue and black fruits. It’s slightly medicinal/eucalyptus like, but it’s hard to shake. Less stemmy/whole cluster like than I normally drink (even compared to SQN), but it’s not flabby. Cascading waterfall of fruit with espresso, dark cocoa and sweet tannin at the finish. The profile is undeniable and a dead ringer to pick out of blind lineups. Kudos to Alban for producing a singular style, and yet for someone who loves Rhône varieties, the aromatics are just a head scratcher for me.

Inky purple color. Huge dark fruit nose. Full mouthfeel with lots of dark fruit to taste. Lots of alcohol initially but slowly mellows to a smooth finish.

Spicy menthol and leather aromas, with dark fruit, nice weight and length on the palate.

This has everything I love in a wine. Great juice. Can’t wait to try the Reva Vineyard.
