Talisman

Adastra Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007

Big cherry cola nose w/ touches of milk chocolate and sage. Ripe maraschino and raspberry dry out quickly to a short chalky-tannin finish laced with cedar, leather, and numbing alcohol. #jurydeliberating — 10 years ago

Jury has returned with its verdict. Still middling. Nice front-end fruit. Acid is still hanging in there. But the oak and alcohol dominate the back-palate which is not what I look for in a seven-and-a-half year old Pinot Noir. Finishes with an off-putting metallic edge. Not bad, but disjointed. Talisman has shown (with this and the '04 Thorn Ridge I opened two years ago) that their typical drinking window may be somewhat narrow.
