A lively number that comes fresh to my nostrils like a crisp sea breeze, salty and tart.
You can almost smell that acidity!
And acidic it is! Mouthwatering in fact, even though there are still 9.5g of residual sugars. Reminds me of the old tradition of a spoonful of sugar with your super dry German Rieslings!
I've always said lowburn and Pisa are great for Riesling.
Key lime and lemon zest, and if you like them dry then this is for you.

Cheers!

A little bit of a straight line, but a solid young Pinot. Quality winemakers, it this wasn't a gift opened for drinking on my birthday , I would want to keep it for years.

Blackberries and tannins, simple but and enjoyable glass!
Bottle is gone now!

This Central Otago Pinot Noir comes to us from two of Rockburn's sites, one located in the hillside region of Parkburn in Cromwell Basin and the other coming from the back road of Gibbston Valley.
This bottle was a favourite for many at the tasting, as despite it's young age, it displays mature characters of spice, blackberry, with mocha and dark chocolate to boot.
Subtle berry and smokey aromas lead into a wine that is full bodied with all the tannic structure you could ask for.
Incredible finish.

Keep! 2013

Nice gift by a friend for the birthday drinks.
Nice bright and spicy style, high acidity, tropical notes.
14%alc a bit controlling but great fun for the party. All gone.

8 friends over for my birthday...Two bring sherwood wines to open tonight! I would have liked to keep them you rascals! Ah well, for drinking now, this style goes down smooth and disappeared in a few minutes between us.

Fruits of raspberry and cranberries, freshly picked I'd say! Lively acidity with soft tannins and an overall light body.
For being a off the block 2014 Pinot, you could hardly do much lovelier.

Simple and savoury. Went through most of the bottle with a Catalan friend of mine.
Ate stuffed mushrooms and later with Christmas ham and beef.
It's well balanced and soft in both body in tannin and the oak is again well measured.
Highly recommended.

Hello once again Rocky Knoll Vineyard!
New release 2012 at the cellar door on July 1st.
About 500 cases of triumphant Central Pinot. Lacks the acidity of previous years, but makes up for it in plenty of whole bunching tannic punch!
35% new French oak and 18 months in oak all around makes for one bucking bronco of a 2012 Pinot!
Never mind the snow on the Pisa range in March the said, let's make something to cellar a decade or more why not!
Rich, dark and spicy, just throw it in the cellar!

Cheers!
