At the Annual Yalumba Tasting at the Downs Club. A quick note - this was brilliant particularly for the money which was about a third of the price of the Octavius and a fraction of The Caley. Fleshy and fruity covering the spectrum from Pepper through to Plum with sweet Tannins. Short term cellaring- drink now to 10 years. A very good Northern Barossa Shiraz. I bought 6. — 6 years ago

A rare example from the masters of the super premium Cab Shiraz blend. Delicious balance of ripe fruit, judicious oak & freshness from the Cabernet component. Showing very well for a 14 year old wine. — 9 years ago
High acid; very perfumed; flavor of wild flowers and honey, beeswax; young white peach — 10 years ago

Yummy surprise for an unwooded — 5 years ago
A very dark rich crimson colour for 14 years. Notes of SO2 and asparagus which persisted over 3 hours after decanting but no effect on the palate. Medium bodied showing the cooler origins of the Eden Valley over the Barossa Valley floor. Coffee grounds, chocolate and savoury berry characters with M+ Intensity. This was a period where Yalumba was experimenting with single sites trying to show the different influences of different terroirs they had under their control. Burgundy like you might say. They didn’t persist with the idea and these bottlings but a useful exercise nevertheless. — 6 years ago

1990 vintage - one of the beauties of coming home to check out your cellar - reminds me of walking the Yalumba cellar years ago. 1990 I was still at high school... brambly, compote, leather spice, black olive w spices nutmeg cinnamon. Still a youngster xx — 10 years ago
Very sharp tasting. TASTES like it was made 11 years ago but I dont mean in a bad way. I'm not sure I'll ever find this again but if I do, I should get it again. — 11 years ago
