As pinot noir goes this is a fairly full-bodied wine with both red and black fruit character and very appealing herbal and forest floor qualities. Tasted alongside the 2015 Hyde Vineyard bottling this one has a bit more acidity and structure though both are equally appealing. — 8 years ago
I’ve always enjoyed the wines of Viña Cobos, which is Paul Hobbs Argentina venture and partnership with Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud. Their entry level offerings are done under the Felino label and are sourced from selected vineyards in Valle de Uco and Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza. Purple flowers and incense hover around the core of blackberry, licorice, ganache, and vanilla. This has crowdpleaser written all over it. Shockingly good for the price. — 8 years ago
Delicious red blend from Paul Hobbs, with steak on Drakes Island (Federal Wine) — 10 years ago
$150 a bottle. Really?

Amazing quality wine, by Paul Hobbs! Leather and anise on the nose, which was also very floral and aromatic from afar. Dense black currant and black berries, creme-de-casi, tobacco, tea, earthy notes, and toasted vanilla on the pallet, ending in a lingering mocha finish. Absolutely top notch example of Napa Valley. While still young, decanters beautifully, so I'd say hold or drink for this one. One of the few best bottles under $100. — 11 years ago
1 down..... A few more to save! Loving this blend from Mendoza that Paul Hobbs backs :) — 12 years ago
Delicious!!!! Want some more. — 7 years ago
Recently rebranded as La Roche Mère this is the most prestigious of the three wines from this property
Earthy violet, hints of chocolate and cedar. Great length and balance - this has a refinement you don't find in Argentine malbec
Exceptionally smooth tannins with enough acidity to compliment most dishes on the table. There is oak on the nose and palate but it is held in check, adding to the wine's complexity — 8 years ago

This was well liked by different people at the party. Some spicy, and bright flavors, also accessible. — 9 years ago
Big and chewy but fantasic — 10 years ago

Great mineral and blackberry compote nose with silky stewed red fruit and herbs on the palate. A lovely wine for the price, especially coming from Paul Hobbs. Shows off cool high elevation fruit. — 12 years ago
Love Paul Hobbs! What a cool collaboration. This wine is rich & elegant, but just right with a simple pasta at home on a cold Thursday night. — 6 years ago
The wines are the result of a shared passion of three winemakers: Paul Hobbs & Argentine parters Andrea Marchiori & Luis Barraud. Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and complex spice. On the palate concentrated flavors of cherry and raspberry with toasty notes and pepper spice. Good balance fine tannins, lingering ending with fruit and sweet herb character. Nice, small production. — 7 years ago

A profound young Shiraz from vines planted 112 years ago in Barossa and made by Chris Ringland from low yields. The “1905” has a distinct eucalyptus thread in its flavor profile, dense chewy blue and black fruit, soy, Asian spices. The Hobbs wine dinner was an unexpected treat. My business partner asked if I wanted to go to a Paul Hobbs wine dinner and I said “Hell yeah I like Dr. Crane”....turns out Hobbs is run by Greg and Allison Hobbs. An extremely cool couple who moved to the country with their kids for a simpler life in the mid 90’s. Greg is a former SWAT team officer and fireman and he has a palpable passion for his wines. This was far and away my favorite of the night. — 8 years ago

Greg Hobbs featured opening wine for us at The Artisans of Barossa. This is his Tango for the two grapes in the blend...Shiraz and Viognier. The two make for an excellent wine that just kept dancing better and better as they opened up. Greg was a Police Officer for 10 years before buying property in Barossa. Quite a transition! Greg's property right next to Chris Ringland's. — 9 years ago
