Woodstock "The Octogenarian" Grenache Tempranillo 2011
I can't recall where I picked this one up from, but I have been enjoying the light-medium bodied wines lately and so I picked this young Grenache Tempranillo from McLaren Vale. Would have been under $30. Named after the Grenache vines that are over 80 years old, this wine is on the more medium body end and was just delicious. Nice tannin with the addition of Tempranillo grapes, the following tasting notes sum it up perfectly;
"Animated, pungent aromas of cherries, ginger and pomegranates which continue on the palate with a delicate touch of cinnamon and white pepper spice, supple yet textural. Released young to capture the vibrant berry fruits and spice. The addition of 15% Tempranillo helps tighten the finish and lengthen the palate of this Grenache." — 11 years ago
