Barberani Vallesanta Orvieto Classico DOC, Umbria 2012 Grechetto, Trebbiano Procanico £7.50 Wine Society Restrained nose that has some ripe peach, melon and grape notes, a touch of white flower and hint of nut. Palate shocked slightly as I had not clocked that this was an Amabile (off dry style) Orvieto. I was expecting a rather thin acidic wine but this has obviously had some decent skin contact and residual sugar giving it a wonderful, full mouthfeel of ripe, ever so slightly sweet stone fruits with the acidity swinging in on the length making it incredibly fresh as well as luxuriant. 90pts — 11 years ago

£28 Wine Society This wine really does have a wonderful nose that has a elegant mic of very rich and nuanced red berry fruit, light touches of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg also intertwine with violets and rose essence. In the mouth this is light bodied but has plenty of power and a very well balanced, ripe, red berry fruit character and real succulence on the length.92pts — 11 years ago

£17.50 Wine Society Notes of sandal wood and touches of prescutto and smoky, mineral red berry fruits and lifted floral tones. In the mouth the fruit has a slight tannic edge and shows notes of ripe plum and blueberry, rather dense, ripe, very lovely! 91pts — 11 years ago
