'S' Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut Chardonnay 1997

Still young as a baby after 18 years of cellaring! Only just developing honey and tertiary aromas. A palpable development in the glass from tight and stern to full-bodied and ample. Orange blossom, yeasty, again honey. A woodied, complex, extremely rewarding after taste. Like another user said it is not about bubbles but about intense aroma and profound flavour. This is clearly an ULTIMATE sensorial experience from a house that has released only 37 editions in 85 years. @WineTraining #salon #champagne #blancdeblancs #1997 @Dusan Bradanovich — 11 years ago

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Of course I love the wine. But drinking the wine at their tasting room is a true experience. The nose and the taste scream of macerated strawberries that slap your lips with a velvet glove. Brilliant mix of fruit and alcohol. — 11 years ago

Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1967

1967: Lively spicy nose. Redolent with eucalyptus, as should be anticipated and celebrated. Metallic component, yet solid throughout of vibrant fruit. While a mere shadow of the other worldly 1968, still a prime example of the birth of modern California winemaking. An honor to experience. — 11 years ago

That's interesting, I didn't have anything to reference prior, since the wine was brought to dinner by someone else. I have often heard that the stated lower alcohol levels from that period were often low balled for tax advantage. I will say that the 1968 Martha's Vineyard is among the best structured wines I've experienced, from anywhere. This wasn't that, but it was a pleasant surprise that inspired a reflection upon a period of winemaking boldness that raised the bar. What's your favorite wine from that period that remains mind blowing?

Those wines from 66-78 amazing. Probably 1969 souverain and 74 RRV. Mondavi 69 really pretty.

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2001

A little less exciting than I expected. Definitely opens with with air, but I did not experience the dense tastes some have described. Well balanced with soft tannins, but not much nose or finish. Maybe the 2001 is past its prime. — 11 years ago

Sunny day in February so I'm enjoying this 2010 as I'm relaxing on the lake. Such a wonderful experience. — 11 years ago
