2006 Williams Selyem Russian River Valley Allen Vineyard Pinot Noir
Our New Year's Eve wine is 2006 William Selyem Russian River Valley Allen Vineyard Pinot Noir. This is the wine you want to age in your cellar. Elegance on the nose. Lighter in a good way. Cherry, raspberries, spice. After 17 years, the wine is in a great place. Goodbye 2023.

Great chard, amazing fruit! — 3 months ago
Spectacular wine! First pour was fruity and tart acting like a newly bottled Pinot. Amazing for a 14 year old bottle. But with a bit of air it transformed into a luscious full bodied smooth treat with a lovely bouquet of fruit and ripe earth. The finish just kept going. Enjoyed with a hunk of prime rib. — 4 months ago
2023/4 holidays. Classic and wonderful - hugely aromatic, hints of flor / salinity but lots of nutty, caramel and dried fruit character give a sense of sweetness though the wine is dry, making it a great partner for aged hard cheeses. Good balancing acidity too. — 4 months ago
It’s a rich & powerful, with a plush texture. Cheery tart & spiced plum flavors. Delicious! — 6 months ago
One of two of Sofia’s top two producers we will have tonight for her birthday. Happy Birthday! 🎂🥳🎉 🎈 Still Youthful.
It’s darker, rich, ripe, lush, elegant, mixed berry fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, black, juicy plums, poached strawberries, blueberries, slightly liqueured pomegranate. It’s like a berry creamsicle. It is one of the more crazy, good Williams Selyem. Sofia would agree 💯. Mixed berry cola/licorice, semi-sweet, rich, dark soils w/ leaves, limestone marl, delicate volcanics, bay leaves, eucalyptus bark, sandstone, dry brush, a touch of grilled meats, steep teas, hints of dry tobacco, sandalwood, amazing floral of bouquet of nearly every color except white, excellent, spring shower acidity and extremely well; knitted, balanced, structured, polished finish for days. — 6 months ago

Gorgeous wine that tastes like a CdP white to me. Love the change of pace from typical California Chardonnay — 5 months ago
Delicious. Opens up with some airtime to become more fragrant. It has some cherry, raspberry and touch of bright strawberry. It’s a lighter bodied wine with some good acid and no real tannins. — 6 months ago
I get why people who generally always review this producer as just good consuming it young. This is ten years from birth, eight years in bottle and it is still not at its peak. it has ten years and perhaps more properly stored. Very good tonight but better things ahead. It takes this long and longer for WS Pinots to shine.
The palate is, juicy, ripe, rich, a bit lush; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, purple fruits, hues of blueberries, plum and ripe to dry strawberries with a pomegranate overlay. Then, dry earthiness, top soil, crushed rocks & powdery limestone & chalkiness, dark spices, some black pepper, dry brush, eucalyptus, tree sap, sun tea, black and red cola/licorice, drier tobacco, barrel dust to shavings, nutmeg, cinnamon stick, vanilla, touch of dry herbs-bay leaves & sage, bright red, pink, blue, purple florals framed in dark slightly withering florals, rain shower acidity, the finish is; well structured & balanced in fruit, earth & flowers, some more tension than I like but will soften & fade nicely in 3-5 years. But, wire to wire really even and stunning. Evolution & integration is good but needs 3-5 years to be its best. Coravin glass.
IMHO, one of the outstanding CA Pinot producers. Walter Hansel gives them a run for the money at their fantastic price point. — 8 months ago
