A Fav! Medium lemon color with aromas of stone fruits, spice, floral, cedar, biscuits and citrus. On the palate flavors of apple, pear & ripe apricot with citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty toasty oak notes, rich with creamy tones. 2013 vintage. At Costa Navarino, Greece. Medium lemon hue. On the nose, quite complex - lemon curd, chalky minerality, honeysuckle. On the palate, a little fat, medium acidity, medium plus concentration and fairly long finish. The mineral nature of the wine is more apparent on the mid palate. Very enjoyable. I read an article recently where the author felt that this 1er cru probably deserved to be a Grand Cru. Whilst this was very good I think it is right at Premier Cru. Initial notes were salinity amongst the apple, citrus flavours and a touch of beeswax. The following night tasted more “new World “. This was very enjoyable but needs to develop more complexity. 2008 vintage. Had never come across the "Little Hill" until today. Light-medium body. Decanted and was fairly musty for 2-3 minutes before it started to blossom. Some blue fruit/menthol/eucalyptus throughout the experience. Demonstrative spice component on the back end. Could really only ding this on being slightly "watery" on the front palate. I love this wine. I love this wine because it exists all the way at the 'painstakingly clean and precise' end of the skin-contact spectrum. Don't get me wrong, I love the super-natty wild and wooly and of the spectrum too. But this. This is so purely and exactly what it sets out to be. And I love it. — 9 years ago
