At home thru the storms nice one to have on a weird evening — 10 years ago
I’ve said it before and I will say it again now. Out of all the hipster winemakers out there, Broc is by far the best and most interesting. This could have turned out to be a linear, acidic with classic pinot flavor, but instead we get this strange mix of umami tomato, cherry juice, and some wild acidity (even a touch volatile). This wine is so fun and weird. The food pairing possibilities are endless. #hipster #organic #gamay — 10 years ago
A wine I could spend my life with. Lively, bright, uncomplicated, and a little weird. — 11 years ago
Weird and wonderful. — 11 years ago
Funky weird - will need to decant a second time with 2nd half of bottle - an orange wine with some noble rot — 12 years ago
Holy Mother of Jerez Son of a Biscuit Eating Motherless Goat!! This is so unique, weird, delicious. Could literally sip just enough to wet the lips all day long. This makes aged fernet seem worthless and sterile. @steviestacionis @nopasf — 13 years ago
Thanks to birch for this crazy cool Sherry-esque weird thing!!! — 10 years ago
Classic Bord Rouge, at a great price. I have this weird suspicion it has a lot in common with Ducru Beaucaillou...just a thought. — 10 years ago
Correction: Chateau D'Arlay Macvin Rouge. Never had anything like it ever before. It is 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 brandy that was aged for 4 years in a cask. The nose is so hot with brandy but the taste is sweet and smooth. Weird. Also, beware of the 17% Alc./Vol. — 10 years ago
This Fino was insane with a variety of kimchi. Bone dry, unctuous, very aromatic right away. Smoked hazelnuts, green olives, minerals, and yeast on the nose. Funky, weird, and pure... (La Bota Fino 35) — 11 years ago
Fruity like dark grapes, "astringent", weird texture — 13 years ago
Weird and wonderful, needs air and then develops beautifully. Blossom, peach, honeyd soy sauce, savory, full of spice, complex. Very textured with high acidity and alcohol, long and rewarding — 9 years ago
Sweet and delicate. Like a gentle sparkling cider with a little weird pet-natty funkiness. — 10 years ago
Woah, greenhouse! Smelled like a greenhouse. So much going on. Chef asked what we were drinking and sent out a Spanish fried rice with octopus, and something about the cilantro in it made it friskyyyyy. Weird spicy after the rice. (Which was NOT spicy). We had fun with this one. — 10 years ago
More cool weird bubbles. Like frizzante blood orange juice, mimosa brunch in a bottle. Complex, ripe, great energy, easy to enjoy and inexpensive! Esoteric, but fun and approachable. — 10 years ago
The baking spice is like "game on" in this wine — 10 years ago
Weird vintage with great wines from top producers. Classic — 11 years ago
Halfway between an Austrian white with its latexy noble weight and a wooly dessert Chenin. Exciting to try and discover on weird white explorer dinner. — 11 years ago
Meyer lemon, lime zest, unripe stonefruit, grass, flint stones, and cattails by the water (so weird). Light bodied, high acidity, and a great finish. A salad of pea tendrils, fava leaves, fresh herbs, and a fresh farmers cheese comes to mind. — 12 years ago
Like a funky natural white Bordeaux. Weird grapefruit and tinned mandarin fruit, passion fruit yoghurt and a bit of astringency. Great stuff. — 12 years ago
