I’ve said it before and I will say it again now. Out of all the hipster winemakers out there, Broc is by far the best and most interesting. This could have turned out to be a linear, acidic with classic pinot flavor, but instead we get this strange mix of umami tomato, cherry juice, and some wild acidity (even a touch volatile). Correction: Chateau D'Arlay Macvin Rouge. Never had anything like it ever before. It is 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 brandy that was aged for 4 years in a cask. The nose is so hot with brandy but the taste is sweet and smooth. Weird. Also, beware of the 17% Alc./Vol. — 10 years ago
