Needs time. Lay it down for a while and you’ve got a winner. Well rounded with a solid pallet, from nose to finish... just young. — 7 years ago

Wow! Going to lay the rest of these down for a bit, but Ty can tell this will be amazing a handful of years down the line. Love the 500mL bottle option from them as well! — 11 years ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1959

This 59 reminds me why this vintage might be better than 61 albeit I'm drinking less top 61's because the book tells me to lay away still the very top producers. But 59 in Lafite, Margaux, now HB better than 61. Latour and Mouton spectacular in 59 and maybe 61 will outlive but only time will tell. This was simply myriad of the finest moments one can expect from a rare old bottle at its peak! — 8 years ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wow! Spice, blackberries, and strangely enough, I am picking up a bit of vanilla cake right out of the oven. Good tannins so this could lay down for five to ten years. But who would want to do that?! Drink it now! Great value for a 2012 vintage. — 10 years ago

Penfolds

Bin 28 Kalimna South Australia Shiraz 2012

Originally when I opened this bottle I wasn't that amped, but in Penfolds' fashion this bad boy is built to last. I'm guessing you could lay this down for another 8-13years and it will shine. 5 hours after this wine was decanted it was still tight, but tasted great. — 10 years ago

Ravines Wine Cellars

Dry Finger Lakes Riesling 2014

I tasted the 2015 a few months back and though it needed more time. This 2014 is excellent, and seems to confirm that maybe just a bit more time is needed. Passion fruit wrapped in steel. White floral notes accent lemon and golden apple, oyster shell and a touch of ginger. Really love this producer and I plan to get a few more bottles to lay down. Will be hard to keep from opening them. 😋 — 8 years ago

Love Ravines! If you've never had it, if you can get your hands on the Argetsinger Vineyard bottling it'll probably rock your world! One of the best domestic dry Rieslings, IMO

Bernkasteler Lay Auslese Riesling 2007

Left to air for 3 hours, this was a very nice reisling. The acidity developed, bringing beautiful citrus notes to truly sweet summer fruits. Too sweet for me to enjoy often, it was a welcome change from heavier French wines. — 9 years ago

Domaine Tempier

Bandol Rosé Blend 2014

I've been skipping around the rose territory the last couple of years purposefully not drinking this one and this was my return, a 375mL bottle shared. Easily in my perspective the most forward, complex, and fun pink wine to drink. This needs nothing at all to be 100% satisfying in every aspect. It's not a wonder why I do my best to lay off this stuff. — 10 years ago
