This was an evening out in Raleigh while in town for a wedding. We had a glass of the Nine Hats Red Blend. Medium purple with a nose of blackberry jam, strawberries, vanilla, and a slight hint of sweet tobacco. Very much a fruit forward wine on the palate. Full bodied, this is a crowd pleaser. We had this by the glass at Vita Vite in Raleigh, NC. At $20 a bottle this is a great value. — 4 years ago

Old Calabria is number one on my personal travel books top list, wrote by that British genius who was Norman Douglas. Now this is the optimum wine to pair with such a reading: rarity, daring, intensity... only to mention few of the features we'got stated in here. Name of the wine's: 'A Vita - La Vite, The Vine in Calabrian dialect in harmony with The Life/La Vita as well - it focuses from the start the insane complexity and discloses the fleeing of the whole subject in itself! Ok, again the soft but very rich tannins, ik like the silky ness of this great wine. It’s more open for me then La Vigne and Aleste and it’s a meaty, powerful wine!! For me it’s a great wine but out of my Leaque price wise. So after this great tasting for me it’s simple, the 2017 Barolo’s are great and more affordable for the most of us. Ruby color, limpid, fluid. A nose of red fruits, flowers and woody notes from aging. Bouquet, classic and classy nose. On the palate, the attack is balanced, the body is charming, the tannins of oak barrels and the fruit are well mixed, with notes of red fruits and flowers. The finish unfolds on woody tannins and a tangy return. Without great complexity but balanced. The wine falls quickly, to drink on the opening day.

Robe rubis, limpide, fluide. Nez bouqueté, classique et classieux, mêlant fruits rouge, fleurs et notes boisées d’élevage. En bouche l’attaque est équilibrée, le corp est charmeur les tanins de fût de chênes et le fruit sont bien mêlés, sur des notes fruits rouges et fleurs. La finale se déploie sur les tanins boisés et un retour acidulés agréables. Sans grande complexité mais équilibré. Le vin tombe vite, à boire le jour de l’ouverture. — 5 years ago
