From Magnum this was stunning Mountain Cabernet!! Dark with little color change- complex and full dark fruit flavor and a very long finish. Perhaps the best Cab I have tasted in more than a year. 42 years and still young and vital. Have a few more and will share them with friends...🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
Crisp and juicy. Bright floral notes with intense citrus. Still vital without secondary notes. Yummy- quite straightforward — 8 years ago
Vintage 1949 in Burgundy according to Broadbent: “..most perfect end of a decade - elegant, well-balanced wines”; Clive Coates in his book Cote D'Or: "best vintage of 40's all-perfect beauty and purity”; Robert M. Parker Jr.: “it was the best of post world war II vintages before 1959”
Henri Leroy at that time was négociant based in Auxey-Duresses, his mythical daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1949 was only seventeen.
Les Cazetiers is amongst the most elevated of Premier Cru site in Gevrey-Chambertin - and indeed the whole of Burgundy.
I drank this precious bottle on Mount Etna with #FrankCornelissen and other dear friends. Uncork this bottle lead to a surgical operation. Just begun to pull it out, a light breath of wine molecule with air bubbles magically have emerged on the surface of the cork. It's been like witness the passing away of a dying old man (or Pinot Noir must be a woman?) That humanized wine had held "élan vital", hope and breath inside him for the last 66 years! A miracle of a wine still so tasty, robust, citrusy, vibrant, earthy, incredibly alive and well-preserved despite color and neck level did not bode so well.. that's what I thought and I'll remember until I die: "the wine was waiting for us to drink it up, he gave off his mortal blow to offer us life, joy and smile!" — 9 years ago
BC's best. Vital, lean, acidic and crushable — 11 years ago
Grab a bottle of this if you ever find one. You will not be disappointed! — 11 years ago
Easy drinking gem. — 7 years ago
Vintage 1990 - yellow golden colour, very vital. Beautiful smell with quince dominant, also impressions of honey, ananas, Turkish Fruit, hay, quite complex. This #cheninblanc is mouthfilling with (now at the age of 28 years) dominant bitters with a toffee-alike aftertaste. #Vouvray that delivers! Actually, I was surprised/shocked to find this bottle in the cellar corner. I do not keep my demi-sec thát long. Beautiful starter of saturdaynight diner with wild boar paté. #loirewine — 7 years ago
Vintage 1985 - old gold colour, acacia honey, glue, hay, vital taste, amazing #cheninblanc #bonnezeaux #loirewine — 7 years ago
Delicious! Loved it sooo much😄 — 8 years ago
It's often said "it's better to be lucky than good." For the dicey 2011 vintage, being both was vital. One needed to be lucky with weather in the vineyard and good with both viticulture and winemaking. This wine is a great example of just that. It's expressive and earthy with briary black fruit--especially blackberry--and coffee. The medium-bodied palate is graceful and framed by very fine, soft tannins. It's super drinkable now, but will age for several years yet. 13.1% alc. $125 — 9 years ago
Hajo is never a bad finish for a tasting. Still very vital although this boy is already 26 years old. — 10 years ago
Last bottle of this Domaine. Still vital and in shape. Great PQR. — 11 years ago

Grabbed another bottle! Wine bears the vineyard named to honor the Red-shouldered Hawks and other birds of prey that play a vital role in sustainable farming practices. Bright yellow with aromas of tropical fruits and sweet floral scents. Aged for 14 months, 75% in new French oak and 25% in stainless. On the palate melon, pineapple and peach flavors and hints of citrus, subtle yet complex and well balanced. Lingering finish, savory, ending with mineral tones and toasty oak. Outstanding! — 7 years ago
This is drinking really well. A lovely nose with kirsch, a herby sage thing and meaty, lively red fruit. On the palate young and vital. Lovely bright definition- vivid and powerful. Heat in check. It's young but much better balanced than a lot of 07's with great Pegau funk. Excellent and a good way ahead — 8 years ago
Crazy oxidative and sherry like on aromas. Palate was rich with great acid. Still young and vital. A treat — 9 years ago
Maybe it was the company but this wine punched above its weight. A little higher acidity than I expected but dark fruit and mellow earthiness. — 9 years ago
1982, vital and expressive. Leather, eucalyptus, still going strong — 10 years ago
