Good dry wine with a special fruit taste. — 8 years ago
Unusual nose and profile; a bit reduced, cherry vanilla with funk — 9 years ago
Liked this a lot. Great structure, intense, a tad heavy but overall a real winner. — 9 years ago
Excellent QPR!
Nose: Roses on stems, raspberries, red plums, white pepper, warm dusty earth, smoke.
Palate: Sweet but tart raspberry candies up front, roasted red plums, craisins, smoke, lots of herbs on the mid-palate, bramble, flowers and stems, white pepper, vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of bitterness on the finish.
Sooo good with smoky octopus with bacon smashed potatoes and Romesco sauce:

Had this 2 yrs ago. Mather Teresina, flagship wine of Celler Vinos Piñol, made with grapes grown in high elevation region of Terra Alta. The nearly extinct Morenillo grape is indigenous to the area & makes Mather Teresina a unique wine, a blend of 50% Garnacha, 30% Cariñena & 20% Morenillo. Nice aromas of berries & sweet spice. On the palate cherry flavors with vanilla spice adding pepper notes on fine smooth tannins which opened much quicker. Long ending with sweet fruit tones & bits of earthy floral. — 6 years ago
Berries on the nose, slight tannins on the front, a little acidity on the finish. With some time, will be amazing. — 6 years ago
Burgundian elegance and complexity in Grenache form. Highly drinkable now with extremely fine tannins and balanced acidity. Such a happy wine. — 8 years ago
Took a chance on this one. I'm glad I did. Bright and juicy with great tannins. Opened it and left it for a few minutes and it opened up lovely — I loved it even more. So juicy!!! — 9 years ago
Ok, whoa eucalyptus is the strangest note in a beautiful way. A freshly struck match. Radish? Root veggie?? But so well balanced. One of my new fav reds. Had with fogo de chao and it couldn’t have been a better choice. — 5 years ago
Break your heart good — 5 years ago
Bit funky on opening but settles into a nice lime note, palate has tantalizing hint of guava or cantaloupe, good acidity. Short but clean finish. Very quaffable. — 6 years ago
A souvenir brought from the interesting project Bodegas Licinia in Madrid. With some imagination you’ll find some Super Tuscany resemblance with a ripe dark fruit and floral profile with a good energy and well placed portion of oak. Hefty on the alcohol, but well embedded on the palate, with a solid intensity of ripe, yet fresh fruit, and a nice developing persistence on the palate. Good stamina throughout a solid finish.
With Cabernet Sauvignon the intension is to provide structure to the blend and yes it works; 50% Temperanillo 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 5% Merlot. Elevage in french oak Barrique oak barriques. — 6 years ago
Garnacha, Jaen (mencia), a host of others. Can something be both Mediterranean and mountainous and reflect character of both? Yes, here's proof. Wild side of garnacha- sage, thyme, black currant- mixed with licorice and plum. Sawdust tannins but non invasive and bright, clear acidity — 8 years ago
Rich depth some blackberry with a little kick on the finish. Very good — 8 years ago
First Spanish bottle. Good dry Granache (Granache grapes only). Dark cherry, light white pepper, mellow tannins, with an easy finish. Needs a bit of air. Would love with food bc not too sharp and wouldn't be a drastic change in taste like most reds. Could drink all night. Also not too sweet ❤ — 9 years ago

It’s official. We’ve taken the leap and registered for WSET Diploma (Level 4)! 😆 We’re excited for, and daunted by, the steep learning journey that lies ahead over the next 2-3 years…
What better way to mark the beginning of this journey than to sip on some lovely Ribera del Duero wine and work through a formal note using the systematic approach to tasting (SAT) wine? 🍷🍷
This wine is made from the ‘Tinta del Pais’ variety aka ‘Tinto Fino’ aka ‘Tempranillo.’ It hails from Ribera del Duero DO within the Duero Valley of Spain. 🇪🇸 Its topography is unique in that it’s largely cut off from maritime influences by surrounding mountains and is situated on the highest part of a plateau called the Meseta Central, over 2,780 feet above sea level. ⛰ ⛰
👁 This wine is deep ruby with notable tearing and extraction.
👃 On the nose this wine has a medium intensity of youthful aromas. Aromas include primary notes of ripe black cherry, black currant, blueberry, pomegranate, violet, anise, black licorice, and secondary notes of cedar, pencil shavings, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, and clove.
👄 On the palate this wine is dry. It has medium(+) acidity, a medium(+) body, high alcohol, medium(+) tannins, and medium intensity of flavors. Flavors include tart blackberry, black cherry, and black currant, dark chocolate, toast, cedar, nutmeg, and clove. The finish is medium.
This is a very good wine that is balanced in its core structure, offers aromatic and flavor complexity across primary and secondary categories, and has solid intensity and concentration of vibrant fruit. 💕 It may be consumed now (especially after decanting), but has potential for further aging.
