Alicante Bouchet I am told. Very nice! — 8 years ago
Vinho português muito bom, num estilo mais encorpado do que os portugueses em geral. Taninos muito presentes, bom potencial de guarda. — 8 years ago
Great new young red from Douro with a light body but dry finish. Goes well with red meats & game. — 9 years ago
This was a very nice sip! — 2 years ago
We had it with dear friends in Rio last August. Very dark rubi robe, nose of crushed flowers and asian spices, a hint of anise. Very rich and bold in the mouth, lots of fruit and very polished tannins. Great stuff. Looking to see if we can find it in the US. — 3 years ago
Damn damn damn. If you can get your hands on one of these do it stat. Amazinggggggg. The douro grape is amazing that we had with cacio e pepe. A red when poured that when you look at it you know this is going to take you to another place. When you take that first sip, the taste of freshness. Seriously I could drink this all night — 4 years ago
this is the type of Alentejo wine that I love. — 6 years ago
Still young and tight, very concentrated and tasty. Give it time and it will be special — 8 years ago
So light! So fresh! So grapey! — 8 years ago
Very tasty wine. Smooth taste with just a bit of acidity. "Jammy". — 8 years ago
This wine is an example that price has nothing to do with quality. Lots of fruity sweetness balanced with acidity, and with vanilla and tobacco. — 2 years ago
Easy sipping wine. Light, refreshing and crisp. — 3 years ago
Starts with a jam flavor, followed by a vanilla-oak finish — 3 years ago
Very drinkable, lighter red, dry, pairs nicely with food. We had buttered halibut. Would definitely buy again for the price. — 5 years ago
The Portuguese are teaching me at least that blending many vines with passion can produce exquisite experiences: refined, good body, smooth Ramon’s for a young wine, robust color l, varying aromas-really changing constantly!!! — 8 years ago
Pale green straw. Fruit salad, lemon peel, gravel. Like a lighter viognier. M+ sour with some bitterness. — 8 years ago
Dao, Portugal. It takes a while to open up but when it does it is all mature fruit and concentration. — 8 years ago

Popped and poured. The 2022 “Dry White Wine” from Akra Chryssos was a brilliant capstone to our Hellenic adventure. The winemaking at Akra Chryssos leans toward natural but is more accurately described as extremely light-handed. The Somm explained that these wines do see some barrel but only for a short period and all are used. Some of the fruit is sourced from vines over 200 years old.
The 2022 vintage pours a striking pale salmon color which is, apparently, unusual for this wine as previous vintages were a more traditional straw color. I wondered if this vintage had seen some skin contact however, it has not. The Somm at Pharoah had asked her supplier about it and the only information they could offer is that the aging barrels had previously held a red wine. The nose is stunningly powerful. Bright, fresh pineapple, star fruit, lemon, honey and crushed rocky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is long and saline. This was a divine pairing with a variety of fare including fava beans with anchovy, roasted wild greens with anthotyro cheese, grilled octopus and red snapper savoro. — 2 years ago
