Had the 2017 vintage. Lovely fruit — 7 years ago
Wow. Complex, ripe but deliciously structured, runs a line with aromas that remind me of a top Burgundy but then again... no. Not a super powered Syrah but a refined, elegant, complex, and cerebral kind of Saint Joseph. Challenges all the great regions of the Northern Rhône. 2010 — 8 years ago
Smokey meats, crushed black pepper, spice box, black cherry fruit. Chewy, juicy yet fresh on the palate. Bright fruit and acidity shin. Blend of northern and southern Rhone Syrah. Value buy! Drink now. — 9 years ago
One of the best Crozes-Hermitage I have had, beautifully balanced. Wow..!!! #crozeshermitage #syrah #francoisvillard — 10 years ago

Blockbuster. Bacon fat and crushed flowers. Sexy transparent red color. So young, fruit in the palette just waiting to come out. Buy two, drink one, bury the other. Jeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz. — 11 years ago
Red snapper and oysters in Dubai, why not. — 11 years ago
Very pale golden color with peach, apricot, spiced honey aromas. On the palate, it's creamy and ample and dryish with peach, apricot, honey and mineral flavors. Med finish. Fabulous with saffron rice tilapia! — 12 years ago
I’m not an expert but this 2014 vintage was ideal to drink. I had a delight eating a bacon burger with it. — 5 years ago
Why all but the best New World Syrah practitioners should just quit and take up another variety. Framboises, umeboshi, roast venison, herbs...all within a fresh, tender and lifted structure. Juicy and ripe on the finish, yet not at all cloying. Crozes can’t be better than this. — 6 years ago
A typical Rhône valley Syrah. Very nice companion with the steak — 7 years ago
Great jammier than your typical Pinot. — 9 years ago
Trop jeune mais très bon, belle finesse — 9 years ago

François Villard consistently amazes me at taking white varietals that I tend not to get too excited about, and making wines out of them that make me want to sit down, stare off into space and think about stuff. 70% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne, non-sparkling St Peray. Evolves aromatically mid-whiff.......impressive. — 11 years ago

Rich, toasted caramel apple with incredible complexity. — 5 years ago

Tasting @ 714 with Sue — 10 years ago
Years back a plush monkey wearing a sombrero cradled a small acrylic painting of my own sat in a well maintained yet delicately musty loafer with a soviet hammer and sickle I'd also painted on the side was placed on my friends doorstep in the middle of the night. Shortly after my friend opened the door to quite a surprise, he was deep in the land of mushrooms, so deep he required conformation of the loafer monkeys existence. The complexity of that situation is not unlike this leathery, light, and colorful display. — 11 years ago

It's sharp. Dark fruit (a plum for sure) and leather. Short oaky finish. — 5 years ago
