Another beautiful champagne from the Launois family. A pale old gold color with nice perlage and intensity. Freshly baked bread and green apple aromas for days. Melons and white peaches with herbs for good measure. There’s an innate sense of lemon zest in the air that’s just magnificent.
Pure Grand Cru Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger. Four years of aging on lees gives this a resplendent and stately nature. Nice acidity and a superb mouthfeel, especially on the second day. Apples and chalk on the palate alongside vibrant citrus fruits. I struggle to think of a better value in Champagne than this. Stock up. — 9 months ago

Again slightly deeper colour . Quite rich and ripe on the nose with brioche , baked apple , lemon peel , touch of honeysuckle. On the palate more baked apple , lemon peel , ginger . Quite rich and decadent almost , but balanced acidity , creamy texture . Buttered pastry and lemon tart . Good ginger tinged finish . This will need more time than the Leon , quite dense and rich . Better in 5-8 years and will last well a further 10 — 7 months ago
Blend of 55% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, pale lemon color with aromas of citrus, floral and biscuit notes, fine bubbles and light mousse, on extended lees aging. On the palate flavors of crisp apples, peach and lemon notes, savory mineral, complex. Long ending with fruit and slight toasty biscuit character. — 3 years ago
Last night (NYE). Good stuff. Not overly fruity and not dry. Nice balance. — 6 years ago

Bright citrus acid initially. Then a mid palate and finish of bread and yeast. Lingers a bit. Very enjoyable. — 8 years ago
Berries, tart and tangy citrus. Fun pairing with Cantonese food! — 10 years ago
2010 with such fresh crisp fruit. Meyer lemon and powdery minerality. Want to put away a few bottles, see the evolution. — 10 years ago
Old classic... Mmmm. — 12 years ago
Demi-sec. Pineapple, honey, lemon rind. Not what I usually look for in Chenin, but this is undeniably a good wine. Elegant, full, and with a finish that just won’t quit. — 9 months ago

Incredible. Drank next to Bernadeau and this destroyed it. Old Chidaine is a treasure. — 7 months ago
