Light and dry but funky, almost yeasty tannins mixed with berries. Distinct old vine Chilean varietals that I would like to see more of. — 4 years ago

Really nice wine
— 5 years ago
Nice mellow cab especially for the price. Would buy again. — 5 years ago
Well...I must say that this was one of the more surprising wines I’ve had in a while. Picked up from the bargain-bin at the local Hy-Vee for $9. After opening, it was a bit tedious and, to be honest, I didn’t think it was going to come around. We didn’t finish the bottle so just stuffed the cork back in the bottle and stuck it in the basement. The next day, I wasn’t particularly excited to revisit the bottle but I’m so pleased that I did. Cassis, tobacco, baking spices, leather, and graphite on the nose. Cassis, dark cherry and earth on the palate. The structure propped it all up very well. Long-ish finish...I just didn’t expect this from a 7 year-old grocery store wine. Good with food or on its own. Should last until 2021. — 8 years ago
A merlot with a tannin backbone! The dark cherry profile was subdued by a slight tobacco backstop. Had it with a cold mango pasta salad. Next time it will be with grilled ribeye. Enough tannin to put a case in the cellar.

Big and brooding. Plum, currant, toasty oak, vanilla, and mocha notes. I have long been a big fan of the Medella Real Gran Reserva. Relatively easy to find. Great price. Always reliable. It’s one of those wines that will appeal to both the newly-initiated and experienced tasters. I also love that it’s so multifaceted. You can drink it alone or with a burger, and it has enough structure to pair with a steak. You won’t go wrong always having some of this on hand. — 8 years ago
