The 2019 Sperino Rosa del Rosa is stunning, opening to reveal depths of ripe peach and strawberry, with hints of cumin, ginger, dried orange, and roses. It floods the palate with silky textures, tugging at the cheeks as zesty acids settle in, then soothing through sweet liquid florals and ripe fruit. The finish is long, showing a hint of fine tannins, yet not austere; instead tactile, perfectly balanced with a hint of savory spice and just begging me to take another sip. This is a blend of Nebbiolo and Vespolina, which is gorgeous right now, but it may even get better with a little time in the cellar. Frankly, it was hard to put the glass down. Still young but very enjoyable. Raspberries, minerals and grip tannins. — 8 years ago
Riper, but really elegant wine. — 8 years ago
Sooooooo good! This wine should be way more expensive to be this tasty. — 9 years ago

Alto Piemonte meets Loire. Crispy and herby and fruity. — 7 years ago
Not a bad wine for an Italian. Leads with herbal notes, black tea, sour cherry. Very soft and long finish. Medium body. — 7 years ago
Drinking quite well. A great blend of Nebbiolo, Croatina, & Vespolina. #astorwinesnyc — 8 years ago
2007 vintage
— 8 years ago
Another indigenous grape in the piedmont — 10 years ago
Pleasantly surprised with this wine... first time having a Vespolina wine. This grape is native to Piedmont and has Nebbiolo grape in its ancestry. Only 12.5% alcohol, classically-made acid-driven red with soft tannins. The tannins grew stronger in the glass I was having 24 hours later. For $24, this is a super value wine I have had in a long time. — 3 years ago
Vivid pink. Aromas of red fruits, licorice and white flowers. Then big, rich, dense and spicy with slightly sweet flavors of pomegranate and watermelon. Finishes very juicy and long; this is still young and will age well. A blend of Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2019) — 5 years ago
Nose was very expressive going into the decanter, under-ripe tart cherry, raspberry juice, rose.
Palate has Bing cherry, plum, flowers and a nice bite of acidity.
The bottle is generally a little tight, likely we'll do single glasses tonight and revisit tomorrow.
100% Vespolina aged in concrete, no wood influence.
24hr Update: Palate is just slammin bright cherry, like this is a totally different wine. — 6 years ago

Really interesting. Enough heft. A little chewy-ness and acidity. Good with duck and sweetbreads. — 7 years ago

Whoa now, '86 Nebbiolo drinking better than most Barolo of this age! — 8 years ago
Focuses nose of sweet strawberry, cinamon, cocoa, spice, cherry and spearmint. Beautifully delicate and nuanced with less fruit and more savory notes of spice, decaying leaf, and big spearmint notes. Awesome with lamb! — 9 years ago
I wish I had a bigger glass of this one. The heights of Nebbiolo! (and Vespolina, of course). — 10 years ago
