Clean - best option at Stephen F's (for better or for worse). — 9 years ago

Boa Ventura is my favorite winery. Can't tell from the listing which of their for Cabs this should be rating, but try are ALL great. I particularly like the non-vintage "Platinum". Brett blends cabs from a few years to bring together the finer points of different years, vines, and oak barrels. — 9 years ago

A rare Cabernet Sauvignon from Catalunya from the Jane family. Killer wine that combines a Bordeaux nose with Mediterranean sensibility. Truly unique & fun wine. Lots of elegance and drinks great at 15 years old, would love to have at 25. Beautiful with ribs. An iconic Spanish wine. — 10 years ago

Sometimes that shark, he looks right into you. Right into your eyes. You know the thing about a shark, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces.
Y'know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men! I don't know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don't know how many men, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin' chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Baseball player, boson's mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up. Bobbed up and down in the water, just like a kinda top. Up ended. Well... he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us, he swung in low and he saw us. He's a young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper, anyway he saw us and come in low. And three hours later a big fat PBY comes down and start to pick us up. You know that was the time I was most frightened? Waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb. — 11 years ago

If you're in the Ojai/Ventura area, stop by Vino V Vineyards. They have some good wines at great prices. You can check out the working farm next door. Pretty cool; off the beaten path, hidden gem. — 12 years ago
Excellent Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir- FogDog. Lucky to have a 2006, on a foggy day in Ventura. Near perfect mouth feel, with toasted oak, cherry and vanilla notes. — 12 years ago
2010 is very nice. Easy to drink. The nose is black cherry, tobacco and leather. The initial palette is light with hints of ripe plum & nut meg. The finish is smooth with medium light tannins that are well balanced. This wine would be great with a steak or a nice charcuterie spread. You won't be disappointed. Found this at The Cave at Ventura Wine Co. You can try this on their tap system in the restaurant at 1oz, 3oz, and 5oz pours before you commit to the whole bottle. — 9 years ago
Light, summery. Minerals. Not much flowers, just some to balance. — 9 years ago

Great balance between white pepper and minerality. A little too light for bbq but great for 2+ glasses with a full moon out tonight. 2012 Ribiera Sacra - Pena do Lobo. Nevermind the thirsty monkey #riberasacra #redwine #red #spain — 11 years ago
