Slightly over extracted and deeply concentrated, not something I usually enjoy much, but this is different. Aroma of black and blue fruits, dark chocolate, espresso that carry through the palate. Big and powerful in a velvet glove - wait, MollyDooker does have a bottle called Velvet Glove! The 16.5% abv was not noticeable. Immensely enjoyable. — 7 years ago
Yummy. Would drink again. Great for a glass. — 8 years ago
Lovely yellow hue opens up a powerful nose filled with dirt, grass, rice, and honeysuckle. The palate proceeds to get smothered with a perfect amount of oak coupled with honey and lemon. A mildly tart finish makes this the perfect summer white. Great recommendation by the local rep and Happy 4th to everyone!....a mid-dinner update....massive green apple comes through with food! — 9 years ago
Dark and brooding tawny purple, opaque. Killer nose of smoked meat, bacon, white pepper, red plums and stone. Rich velvet texture in the mouth. Coats the palate. Performing very well right now. — 10 years ago
Velvet texture and finish and really integrated structure. Lots of American oak and tobacco cedar notes. Fruit has faded a bit but opened up with time. Cool experience — 11 years ago
My favorite moscato. Perfect amount of sweetness and simplicity. Found at Trader Joe's. — 11 years ago
Insanely good for the price — 12 years ago
I love this red wine. To me, it goes well with maybe chili or taco salad. — 14 years ago
Last night in MT at the lake. Gave this several hours of air. Nice dark tawny color. Vibrant in the glass. The nose is great right away and stayed on point through the evening. Notes of black cherries, warm raspberries, old cedar, some plums and a little leather saddle. Rich and silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Long finish. Great wine. — 7 years ago
Love ChP when it’s got some age on it. (1998) Totally different beast and this was spicy velvet. — 8 years ago
Beautiful velvet Cabernet paired with our Pollo Marsala tonight.! Very well balanced red fruit and smoothly silky tannins. Love Stags Leap!!! — 8 years ago
Liquid velvet. Probably the most drinkable wine I have had in years. — 8 years ago
Subdued somewhat closed Bordeaux nose, rich silky velvet texture on the palate with excellent fruit and balance. Many years in its future. — 9 years ago
15-year old California Cab Blend does NOT disappoint. This had a wonder black fruit/dark/chocolate/forest floor nose, wonderful velvet mouth feel, fine integrated tannins, long finish. The 3rd hour it hit its stride! — 9 years ago
I love this well named wine — 11 years ago
Chomped cigar, dried cherries, and velvet. — 11 years ago
Clearly one of my favourites from Bordeaux. A very under rated vintage under the shadow of 2000's. Iron fist in a velvet glove is what I think of this lovely wine. Spherical, sexy and very serious.18,5 ++/20 — 13 years ago
Sweet, but not overly so. Very good dinner wine! — 7 years ago
Smooth... Buttery finish. Full bodied flavor, but not overwhelming — 7 years ago
Very smooth with lots of berry. Good table wine for dinner — 8 years ago

I’m not sure if it’s the age, but the balance of this ‘83 is quite amazing. The fruit may be slight past it’s prime but it’s kind of like drinking velvet, if velvet was a liquid. There’s a tiny bite at the end that’s a bit surprising. — 7 years ago
