Dark fruit aroma. Easy smooth upfront with a dry middle and a long dry finish. A hint of the peppery sin and a hint of the cab boldness. — 8 years ago

Tastes a little sweet, but is just so easy to drink. Doesn't give me heartburn and isn't as sugary sweet as it tastes. — 9 years ago
Sooooooo.. yeah. That happened. For real. First any d'yquem is cause for celebration. One significantly older than you is cause for alarm. Also from 375ml, so i would surmise "fully mature". Slight seepage, go figure, and during a cork test I got some movement out of it, so decided it was go time.
Note it was apparently still doing its job, the som got it out with my Durand in one piece. And yes. I will bring my Durand to a restaurant with old bottles for corkage because why would I want the poor som to go nuts and lose his mind with a screw-pull?
Colour was dark. Castrol gtx20-50 (used) with definite fading to amber. Reddish tones nearly through out. Browny honey y orangey colour as a whole, and remarkably dark.
Nose was intoxicating. As always. Very... bright. Alive. The aromas and high tones betrayed the dark colour. Honey, apricots, creme brulee scents poured forth readily, and i regret choosing to not give this wine a half hour in the decanter prior to consuming. Thicker than a regular white wine, but not like oil.
Still had some acidity. Texture was other worldly. Initial tastes were peary honey botritis fruity, and those faded to more stone fruit, apricots, honey comb, i swear light aromas of orange blossoms. We lingered with this for about an hour, well worth the time.

My favorite wine! — 9 years ago
From either the 3rd largest co-op in the world or in Europe. I think it's in Europe. Produttori is located in the heart of the tiny town of Barbaresco just to the right of the tower shown in the photo and up the street from Gaja. Also, one of the best Michelin stared restaurants for lunch we've ever had. As well, the best restaurant service we have experienced and it wasn't that pricey. For such large a co-op, they produce some outstanding value wines and some straight up excellent wines. This 09 is quite nice and one of their entry level value wines. A nice pair with my skillet lasagna. The wine shows more sour than sweet dark cherries, black raspberries, dry dark plums, touch of pouched strawberries, black cherry cola, dry dark florals bouquet, a light delicate herbaceous quality, dark soils with dry powdery crushed rocks with nice acidity. The balance of fruit & earth is improving as is the finish. It still needs at least 3-5 more years in bottle. Very nice wine under $30. A 9.0 on it's own with the skillet lasagna, 9.1-9.2. — 9 years ago

I love how in Spain you can go to a restaurant order a half bottle of Rioja and a 14 year old wine comes out aged perfectly. This is drinking great right now and can't imagine it's going to get any better. — 10 years ago
One of my favs!! — 11 years ago
Wonderful bouquet. Slightly sweet and perfectly paired with chocolate or dinner. — 11 years ago
Extremely smooth with sweet fruity flavor at the beginning, and vanilla in the body. Good lasting. I am having it at a restaurant right outside the Piazza Nanova In Roma facing the fountain and the Palazzo Madame, can't beat that. — 11 years ago
Great Pinot! — 7 years ago
Very light and smooth Brunello. Nice price point at restaurant at 85$/bottle. — 7 years ago
Thought I was getting the '13, but restaurant did the ol' vintage switcheroo. Still very good considering how disastrous 2014 was for Tuscan reds. The leather really stood out on this one plus some rustic tannins. Which worked just fine for a spicy penne in tiny Alpine village. Merlot dominant plus some other bdx varietals. Drink now. — 9 years ago
Very nice. Smooth with character. At the Fish Camp restaurant with Family. Sue chose. — 9 years ago
Not too sweet, just the right blend. — 10 years ago
Delicious red wine that is great by itself or paired with food. Very fruity, medium to low tannins, very round. — 10 years ago
Excellent wine!! Would recommend this! — 10 years ago
Has been a while since we've had the '07. It was great to find it at our small local Italian restaurant, especially for way below retail. Purchased the rest to take home to the cellar. Anyways, it is drinking very well. The 07 and 05 are our favorites and about the only Opus we purchase. — 11 years ago
