before dismissing #Burgundy as too expensive, give the lesser-known, lower profile villages like #Santenay a try. At Upland last night, this 2015 Santenay from Domaine Ludovic #Bonnardot was a stunner, drinking well above its price, its red-fruit, rose petal 🥀 brightness matched by a lovely #Pinot silkiness 🧣. Perfect with #Upland's maximally cravable mortadella and pistachio %pizza 🍕 — 7 years ago

100% Granche. Floral blue fruits, blackberries, dark cherries, cherries smoke, charcoals and decayed florals. Nice mouthfeel. M body and M+ tannins, ripe, blueberries, ollieberries, strawberries, licorice, dry stones, crushed rocks, vanilla, light pepper & spice, soft leather, purple florals, mouthwatering acidity and nice round, leaner, polished finish. — 8 years ago

This wine has rounded out since being released in 2008. The grapes were chosen from the Seven Hills, Loess, Mill Creek, Upland. Pepper Bridge, as well as Bacchus-Dionysus and Wallula, both located in the Columbia Valley. It is a blend of 76% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Carmenere and 4% Petit Verdot, having the highest percentage of Carmenere that I have seen for this wine. This vintage was characterized by an early bud break and a hot summer which led to ripe fruit. The wine opens with aromas of milk chocolate, Turkish coffee, sagebrush and black cherry. This leads to rich flavors of black cherry, anise, sage, blackberry and mocha. There is a silky mouthfeel and wonderful viscosity, despite the wine being nearly 10 years old. This is drinking beautifully, one of the best of its kind. 2,723 cases of this delicious wine made. Drink 2019-2035- 96 — 6 years ago

Drank at Upland. Didn't like this at first, but I really was too closed minded on the acidity. It opened up beautifully towards the end of the meal. It was like Jeanette when you wake her up and then feed her and she chills for a while and gets sweet and delicate again. Yum. — 8 years ago

Big wine with nice grip. Thx Chuck! — 6 years ago
Visited the winery in Walla Walla and this wine is a winner with full strawberry aromatics and solid acidity. Can use more time in the bottle but is hard to resist drinking now. Well made from quality fruit. — 6 years ago
Two notable history lessons could be taught with this wine. The first being how the elevation of Snipes Mountain was just high enough to preserve its geological record during the Missoula Floods which marked the end of the last ice age, about 10,000 years ago. The second being the story of Ben Snipes, the Northwest Cattle King. Chasing gold up the Oregon Trail, Snipes arrived in Yakima Valley in the 1850s and saw the potential for raising cattle, and would eventually build an empire of 125,000 heads of cattle. K Vintners Cattle King (which also includes some Upland Vineyard juice from Walla Walla) has been on a run lately, receiving 99, 98, & 99 points for their 2012, 2013, & 2014, respectively, from Jeb Dunnuck. This brings the ruckus. It’s like eating a blueberry BLT while going 100 mph in a 15 passenger van and listening to Queens of the Stone Age in Juárez. — 7 years ago

Really interesting Cab. Don’t expect a typical Cab taste, this is definitely old vine. Almost coconut on the nose, very different. Not my favorite but still very good. The longer it sits out, I get more chocolate on the palate. — 6 years ago
