the path of excess leads to the palace of wisdom — 10 years ago
Found this wonderfully balanced, slightly sour & pleasantly juicy wine to be exactly what it's label suggests - an acoustic wine, based on the "unplugged", unfussy wisdom of ancient vineyards. An expressive palate of sour cherry, juicy red fruit and earthy undertones. Perfect to sip or share... but you may find me not in the sharing mood. Just sayin'... — 11 years ago
Melissa suggested this one and I hailed to her wisdom! — 8 years ago
This was the vintage Serge sipped as bombs fell in Beirut in '76.
Moderate ruby-garnet to an orange rim. It was phenomenal straight out of the bottle, with tertiary dark blackberry essence leaping from the glass. It doesn’t show much oxidation at all. Savory integrated brett, complex tamari and blackcurrant notes. Rounded softened tannins, but still present. I can’t believe how good this is!
Overall the character was similar to the ’95 but with an added tone of brilliant blackness. Slightly toasty, blackened and charred blackberry essence. Also at various moments, dried apricot, orange peel, amaro herbal notes, anise, flemish sour notes, like a rich BFM brew.

Oxidative buttery nose. Unconventional and complex. Light but not too fruity. Just as we had tasted at the winery in priorat. — 9 years ago
Excellent wine. Raspberry, violets, and prpprt aromas. A little lighter than the Cabernet Sauvignon. — 9 years ago
Great Georgian toast is to your neighbor - he is the most important, especially if you moved into new place.
Here are neighbors from one river banks, but different countries. Sogevinus Fine Wines & Bodegas Emilio Moro - made this opulent, rich and silky wine. Elegant fruit, wrapped into noble oak, great wine -with each sip I can contemplate about toasts wisdom - vostok delo tonkoe.
Maybe missing a bit of length, but I forgive them, the balance is perfect. Don't expect claws, this is tuxedo dress code. — 9 years ago

An excellent Zin. Balanced, red fruit. Mendocino old vine goodness. — 12 years ago
From the DOC Noto Nero d'Avola (Sicily) to my parent's table in order to mitigate the legumes gloom that springs out of a winter beans soup bowl - "pasta e fagioli"- so eloquent in his humble celestiality.
Pierpaolo Messina's the producer, Marabino's name of the winery. What a pomegranates plot like! Same succulence of a "blood orange" squeezed by this red wine originated from vineyards rooted on such a white soil "terra ianca"! A fertile land cultivated with art wisdom and awareness, all qualities though, applied with energetic measures by Pierpaolo who's inspired at - both practical and theoretical - some sound principles in the biodynamic agriculture arousal. — 8 years ago
Thin but thick-skinned wisdom. Balance with soft blooms of plum. — 8 years ago
If the '07 is the wise old man, this is the early-40s cougar. Lively on the front, saucy. A lot going on, confident. Will enter round, sage wisdom in a few years (post-menopause?). — 9 years ago
Value at the other end of the $ spectrum! 2002 @YarraYering No2 #FilthyGoodVino Loved this vintage. Making wine in 2002 was the definition of true love. Yields were close to 0.5 tonnes/acre. Intensity was insane, yet, the No2 retained the delicacy you'd expect from a YY. Personality & refinement. Seeing this wine evolve is a demonstration of excellence, showing how wines of real personality that have the fruit to back it tell even more intriguing stories as they age! Wine wisdom! An often missed detail of the YY labels is the leaves that adourn them. The are Bay Leaves, also known as Laurel, not vine leaves. A tribute to Laurel, the Doc's other true love. It was a great shame to visit the cellar door and see that the Laurel had been dug up. It was beautiful tree with a connection to the history of the winery and the founders. — 9 years ago

Quite unconventional for an austrian palate but fascinating. Transparent. Red nose. Pomegranate, redcurrant. Light and bright. Elegant. Good acidity. — 7 years ago
