Nice dark tawny color, almost opaque. Notes of black cherry, dried brush, some iron and some old wood. Nice mouth feel with fruit still present but slightly faded, matched with solid acidity and structure. Needed food as a compliment (homemade pasta and sauce) to show its best. — 5 years ago
One of the best ales I have ever consumed — 7 years ago
Reddish tawny, translucent. Subtle nose, notes of warm dark berries, dried brush and herbs, cranberries, some sweetness that includes brown sugar, and a little medicinal thing. Nicely balanced in the mouth. Fading fruit and tannins resolved. A nice wine but it's best days are probably behind it. Drink up. — 8 years ago
From a presumed late Domaine release, perfect looking bottle with high fill that threw off a lot of sediment. Tawny amber color, translucent and light in the glass. Light cherry, dry brush and rhubarb notes. A nice subtle richness in the mouth. Fruit is somewhat gone but still enough to match the rounded tannins and structure. Again, with air this blossomed and was a great experience for everyone. Another bottle from the Don Stott cellar. — 9 years ago

On the nose, dark sweet currants, stewed fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, dark cherries & poached strawberries. Baking spices, dark rich turned earth, dry stones and fresh dark soils. The body is full with M+ tannins. Still a little meaty. Blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, dark cherries & poached strawberries. Anise, vanilla, clove, spice, pipe tobacco, leathery, dark rich turned earth, dry stones, black cherry cola/licorice, fruit tea, dry brush, crushed rock powder, touch of mint, round acidity and a dry, meaty tannin, fruity finish. Out of 3L. This needs more time in the bottle. 7-10 + years in 3L. — 9 years ago

Are they decanting these?Well balanced with a full flavor and modest finish. — 10 years ago
Dark scarlet tawny color. Almost opaque. Strong CdP nose. Notes of herbs, red fruit, dry brush, dusty earth. Good balance in the mouth with fruit, acidity and structure. A bit over the top in its delivery with some heat involved, and a bit medicinal, but I liked this more than I thought I would. — 5 years ago
The 2016 ‘Insignia’ is an absolutely incredible showing, and is amongst the most compelling vintages I have yet to taste from the Estate. Composed of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec which spent 24 months in 100% new french oak. As this unwinds in the glass it begins to release its seductive aromatics of ripe dark currants, crème de cassis and blueberries along with fresh violets, pencil shavings, wild sage brush and exotic spices. On the palate this is full-bodied, with a gorgeous rich, opulent texture that is beautifully balance by a lovely touch if underlying acidity keeping it fresh and inviting all the way through the long enveloping finish. Displaying a remarkable combination of both power and precision, the 2016 is a total stunner and will go on to have a marvelous future for many years to come. — 7 years ago
Fine boned and restrained. Prominent cherry, faint smokiness, hint of licorice or herbal brush and cedar. Mild tannins and mellow finish. — 8 years ago
