If making a 'Condrieu' good looking Viognier was a paradigm in California 15 years ago, Ranchero has made the dream became truth..Ripe apricot and peach notes along with wild flowers notes. The use of oak and not evident at first sip. This is a great white to explore, sit down and have a holiday meal.. — 8 years ago
Reminiscent of glacier lettuce. Drying. This + oysters = the truth. Sometimes it's good to do different. — 9 years ago
A lighter, leaner style of Viognier than I might have expected from Galil Mountain Winery. Truth, be told, this is my first Israeli Viognier, so I had no idea what to expect. Exceedingly pretty aromatics of pear skin, toasted almond, and a top note akin to my mother's favorite perfume, something like honeysuckle. On the palate, it's not as full-bodied as Viognier can be, especially not domestic examples. Rather, it presents a fresh face of lime zest and green apples interlace bright acidity that persist all the way through to a mouthwatering finish. I was surprised to note its 14.5% ABV is well concealed and better yet, it's very reasonably priced. Sample — 9 years ago
Classic Old World style. A gorgeous ruby red in the glass. The Cap De Fer has a beautiful nose of tobacco and ripe red fruits. The palate follows the nose with really expressive tastes of the same. Plums and licorice really help to round out this very powerful wine. The acidity is balanced quite nicely and the tannins are soft and approachable. There's also just the right amount of spice which compliments the long, dry finish perfectly. Needs to be decanted for around an hour to really get to the real truth about this bottle, but when you do, you'll love it. — 10 years ago
Smooth and flavorful without being too bitter, but not as viscous as I'd prefer. — 10 years ago

Easter 2013 - give me the truth! — 12 years ago
The truth is… over the years, I've had the occasional fanciful thoughts where I imagined picking up and moving to wine country. Those dreams always seemed so impractical and, of course, it’s never the right time. So, when my favorite winery – Theorem Vineyards – whose wines are made by my favorite winemaker – Thomas Rivers Brown – approached ME about moving to Napa Valley to work for THEM, I fell off my chair. Fortunately, I was more prepared when they asked me to join their team as Vice President of Sales and Marketing; my only condition was a bottle of their 2012 Voir Dire Cabernet Sauvignon – their first born. I will be relocating to Napa Valley at the end of May.
As for that 2012, I believe 60 cases were produced. I previously tasted the 2013 and 2014, so the 2012 was the only released vintage I had not tasted. It’s immediately recognizable as Voir Dire with its ethereally dense and exotically potent perfume. Drenched in wild and savory blackberry, luscious crème de cassis, and the most flawless graphite that will make you understand why diamonds exist. The primary components of its flavor profile are so pure and exalted, and so much so, that I’m reminded how right the decision is. What makes this world class, though, is the mosaic backdrop of secondary flavors that comes across like some sort of haute couture tapestry – polished and refined, yet pure and exotic – a mélange of herbs, black licorice, iron, cedar, truffle, game, and leather. It’s very Thomas Rivers Brown, but the terroir is undeniable. — 7 years ago

After years trying to taste it in a proper manner, I finally found the opportunity over a decent red pepper steak with red grape sauce. I was surprised not to see Alicante Bouschet into this baco original from the heights of the Serra de Sao Mamede in Portalegra, but the truth is that the typical granite soils from the region are powering this Touriga Nacional to its best!! Amazing quality price wine! — 10 years ago
Very tasty. Smooth, with a pleasing bite. — 10 years ago
2010 is an incredible value. truth is the acid isn't totally integrated yet, but it's still gorgeous: heady aromatics of kirsch, red flowers and baking spice also show on palate, accented by chalky minerality. fine, feathery tannin and shimmering (if overbearing) acidity complete the picture. in 2+ years this will be a masterpiece. — 10 years ago

Smells amazing. Tastes better. It's the X-Men of BC Cabs. It's something you didn't think would jump so effortlessly from bottle to tummy. It's inhuman. It's a mutant. It's fighting for truth and drunkenness for those who can't fight for themselves. Wow. Thanks Charlotte. — 8 years ago

Bobby Moy, Winemaker "Layers of red plum, blackberries, and cassis explode from the glass. Spices mingle with the fruit giving way to notes of lavender, nutmeg, and cardamom. On the palate it is in balance due to a solid acid backbone and rich, but fairly-tight tannins. The finish lingers with red fruits and wisps of graphite. This approachable wine is rich in color, texture and flavor with an elegance not often seen in mountain Cabernets of this intensity. Delicious now and opens very well with a quick decant. Best from 2019-2030." chironwines.com $55.00 750ml — 7 years ago
