Blackberries and greenness. Still think this is young 5 years out. — 9 years ago
Philip Togni has been making wine the old school way on Spring Mountain for many years. Working the Napa / Sonoma wineries since the 60's. Lower in alcohol but very balanced. Tradition means a lot, and pride in product shows in their amazing wines. — 9 years ago
For the price it was great. — 10 years ago

On the nose, dark fruit profile of; blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, cherries, poached strawberries, dry dark florals, dark soils with light volcanic minerals. On the palate, M-M+ tannins, black raspberries, raspberries, black cherries, blackberries, cherries, poached strawberries, black licorice, sweet lifting spices, strong; clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla, blue fruits round out the longer finish, big chalkiness, some leather & volcanic minerals. The tannins soften & fruits lean on the longer finish with good round acidity. Photos of another vista outside Queenstown, long shot of the tasting room and outside garden grounds. — 9 years ago

Sometimes you don't want to analyze, and just enjoy. This was one of those moments. — 10 years ago

So fresh, lean and floral. Not grassy. Pure joy — 8 years ago
Can't believe I've held on to this treasure for so long! Cedar and sandalwood on the nose. Silky with a bright and savory--almost vegetal--finish. Perfect with filet and steak-house style garlicky creamed spinach. These grapes were picked when I was still in high school! — 9 years ago
Cherries and leaf litter. Old school. Love it! — 9 years ago
Old school - charming - took a moment to show — 10 years ago
Perfectly integrated, well-ahead of the 1999 (still disjointed a few months ago). Supple, not powerful. Just an absolute pleasure. Red cherries, dried strawberries, rye, subdued tamari with slight balsamic prickle, browned liquorice. This isn't arresting as the '95, but rather it's a quieter, equally thoughtful companion. Effortlessly transportive. With it's constant shifting and ease, it makes me think of friendships. Of the people I've met and the conversations I've loved. Of my friend, Tim, who shared the bottle with me. Of friendships born out of music, climbing, work, school, wine - friendships that transcended the genre in which they emerged.
I wouldn't change anything about this wine. — 10 years ago
