Excellent way yo hang in Amsterdam — 8 years ago
As usually happens in life we sometimes have great surprises... this guy is a prime example of that..an increadable value coming out of the great down under. Dark plum acetone and spice to the nose. Slightly sweet plum dark fruit followed by licorice spice pepper to the palate. Nice mouthfeel but a bit watery on the back end. Velvety tannins and a med plus finish. A very enjoyable experience at an amazing value. — 8 years ago

Fresh nose, Bold berry taste, flavorful finish. — 10 years ago
Just over ice with a twist of lemon or orange. Pretty citrus and spice notes. Too bad there was so little made. Makes me wish I had a bigger bottle! — 10 years ago
Excellent and very bold/rich blend. — 10 years ago
Cedar, cassis, blueberry, heavy berries. More than an everyday red — 10 years ago
Lovely (though not $100 lovely) the tannins on this are still pretty burly for a 9 year old wine. It's got some guts, no doubt about that. I will say there is a remarkable consistency in the mouthfeel of the Winesmith wines. They have heft but are never harsh. The tannins range from "melty" (using Clark's terminology here - I would put the Planet Pluto posted earlier in this category) to "firm" (this wine). Yet there is a family resemblance. They're certainly well made. — 11 years ago

Solid Pinot very smooth finish 91pts — 9 years ago
Light bodied with a mushroom earthiness, cherry, vanilla and spice. Great length. It paired excellent with my Christmas turkey and all the fixings. About $40/bottle. — 10 years ago
Nice cherry bouquet. Very balanced and pleasant. Hold its taste for the whole barbecue dinner. Great value! 2010 — 10 years ago
I'm quite satisfied with this wine. The smooth combination of fresh fruit flavorers, enhanced by seasoned plums and a hint of passion fruit, help to create a wine that can be enjoyed at many different types of social gatherings. All in all I am suitably impressed with this Shiraz. — 11 years ago
Incredibly delicious. Cherry and raspberry, with undertones of roasted, almost burnt apple that provide a lot of the interest. — 12 years ago
The Clark & Telephone Vineyard PN gave me a long lasting impression, and this Las Alturas is very similar in style in its richness and intensity.
Ripe plum, blackberry jam, eucalyptus, fig, black tea, and Chinese medicinal herbs bursting on the nose. Palate has more texture and a more elegant feel with dark chocolate and spice. Firm and a bit dusty tannins. This tastes more like a blend of Zinfandel and Cab. Nice! But again this is not the type of PN I like. — 7 years ago
Aged for 16 months in 25% new oak barrels, this wine displays all the right notes of that exposure and is not overblown. Only three barrels of this wine were made - some 60 barrels - and it hits 12.9% abv. It is praised as an elegant wine, the kind Pinot Noir lovers love to love. Medium dark, this medium weight wine shows a nose of cola, black tea, orange peel and spices. The palate is smooth and almost silky. The tannins are just enough and the acidity is perfect. Tart berries, tea notes and spice flavors all play in harmony. The wine is smooth without laying down, exciting without being boorish. — 8 years ago
Would rate this 9.1 for the Black Cherry, damson plum and sandalwood spice nose, but lower for the palate, which shows nicely sweet fruit but lacks the spice and drive I’d really like to see from a good Vosne village wine in a vintage like 2010. Still, that nose tho... — 8 years ago
Great Shiraz from Barossa with great ageing potential. Big core and good tannins, with a floral, spicy, and botanical nose. The pallet exhibits dark vibrant raspberries, black pepper, bay leaf, burnt espresso bean, and silver dollar eucalyptus toward the lingering finish. I still find the RWT to be more my style, in comparison to this beimg more lean in structure and spicy in character. It was a bit less extracted which for some is preferable, but every so often I enjoy more of a rich extracted style of wine. Overall, great effort and I would like to see this one in a few more years.
Cheers!

Aromas of pear. Both crisp and rich on the palate. Get some green apple on the back end. — 10 years ago
Smoky/spicy nose. Just enough acidity to cut back the fruit. One of my favourite pinots so far. — 10 years ago
