About to complete my thesis on Oregon Chardonnay #OregonChardonnay #delectableapp — 11 years ago
Very light for a red, but was a great celebration wine when I finished my graduate thesis!! — 12 years ago
Scores are such an inadequate – though understandably consumer-friendly – way to sum up thoughts and feelings when a wine actually hits home, which is rare.
On the official scale of complexity, age-worthiness and such, this is above average. In my personal platonic ranking – it’s what I love about wine and as good as it gets.
Zippy acid with richness, lots of fruit and lots of savoury, presence on the palate without heaviness and a straightforwardness that reminds you it’s a drink rather than a thesis.
In short: 😍😍😍

Gooseberries/grapefruit, subtle herbs in the range of tarragon, fine long acids, and very clean. Distinctive of pretty much every SB from NZ. If I ever get back into school, I'm writing a thesis on global consumerism of $20 NZ SBs.🤔 not much jump with age. I feel a slight of saline minerality in this versus a bitter fruity personality. A beautiful wine. — 9 years ago
Super dry. Citrus fruit. Minerality. Celebrating Seth finishing his thesis tonight! — 11 years ago
Holy. Holy. Holy. Scholium seems absurdly polarizing. I've really dug each bottling I've experienced so far & this 2010 Chardonnay is a well crafted masters thesis on why CA is already IN THE Future. — 12 years ago
Pours deep, dark ruby with undercurrents if amber out of the bottle. On the nose: bandaids, lavender, potpourri, earth, lactic acid and cigar box. Mouthfeel is a bit weak at first, but not bad. Upon first taste, it’s a little wild: Black currants, yeasty with a touch of minerality, cutting acidity, stone fruit, tobacco, chocolate. After sitting, notes of tomato leaf and fruit emerge, tobacco remains, a crisp acidity and tannic structure come to dominate the wine, such that it resembles a pleasant—if humble—Chianti or super Tuscan found on the other side of the Adriatic. Over all, a great wine for a Monday night spent critiquing a thesis. — 8 years ago
Barolo and ribeye is a beautiful combination. There is so much depth and nuance in this bottle! Sometimes it is worth it to respect and honor the classics. That has been my cooking thesis recently. Thanks for the memorable birthday present, @Anthony Lynch ! — 10 years ago
Like most rose. I prefer cave temp to cold. The fruit that come out is lively and muted at the same time. Great wine to write your philosophy thesis with. — 11 years ago
My thesis defense bottle of wine from back in 2010. Elegant, complex, savory and balanced. — 11 years ago
