Crunchy crissssp minerals with some watermelon somewhere in there. Everything you want after seeing the William Eggleston exhibition at the Met 🍉 — 6 years ago
Just fantastic — 7 years ago
The nose could almost be a white wine with a hint of tropical fruits perhaps (I've maybe been drinking the South American reds too much as of late), however, a great dark fruit flavour with medium finish. Good balance. Easy to drink on it's own but I think would suit a peppered steak with salted fries (must try that...) — 7 years ago
Dry, fruity wine from The Wine Society. Usual fantastic value. Great accompaniment to Chicken Kiev. — 8 years ago

Continuing on with my burgundy wine area deep dive while making my way through the French Wine Society's master class. Today's class was focused on terroir, as the soils change as you move through the Côte d'Or region. Fixin is towards the north side of the region and this premiere cru was grown up the slope from later Jurassic soils. — 9 years ago
Still a bit tight but a wonderful wine. Amazing balance. Kirsch dominates the nose and blackberries and licorice are present on the mid palate. Tannins are very well integrated. Great exhibition of Spring Mountain fruit with balance. — 10 years ago
£11.50 Wine Society Forward, bright cocktail cherry with a pretty perfume along with fresh vanilla pod and kola nut. In the mouth this shows great weight across the palate, full and forward red berry fruit with a nice lick of acidity on the end, will certainly benefit food with a tomato sauce! 90pts — 10 years ago
Paired nicely with local wild mushroom pizza. Inky red, highly extracted pigment, too dense to assess clarity. Black currant, herb, eucalyptus and maybe violet notes in nose. Black currant tartness and flavor with length, eucalyptus in mouth, soft mouthfeel. Slight seed bitterness, minimal skin tannins left. A pleasure to drink, an interesting exhibition of Tempranillo’s varietal character — 6 years ago
Delicious. Quite sweet and vanilla like. Perfect — 7 years ago

I am most the way through a case of this and it seems now the wind is just reaching a nice balanced phase. — 9 years ago
Great pinot noir, much nicer than Mount difficulty — 10 years ago
Petrol perfume, then a great depth of juicy exotic fruit on palate with a lengthy finish. Aromatically this wine might tempt some people to question if the wine is off, but for Riesling lovers it's an exhibition. — 11 years ago
Great with BBQ Rib Eye. — 6 years ago
This is Hugel. An excellent sweet and spicy Gewürztraminer with good length and richness. — 6 years ago
So tonite, I’m enjoying two great artists: Miles Davis, “Kind Of Blue,” 1959, and Manfred Krankl, “Poker Face,” 2004. My all-time favorite Jazz recording (consolation prize to Chet Baker), and my knock down, drag out, unwavering all-time favorite Non-barrel aged SQN Syrah. Fairly bold statement, right? Plenty of great SQN Syrah over the years. But none that over-stimulate the olfactory senses, and catapult the taste buds to warp speed every single time I pull the cork. 15.5% alcohol. Impenetrably dark, opaque, achromatic, inky, motor oil appearance. Off the charts aromatic exhibition of incense, spice box, black pepper, Blackberry liqueur, wet stones and floral notes. Similar palate profile. Definitely fruit driven complexity, but less noticeable oak this time along with some developing nuances of mushroom, forest floor and roasted game. Pure silk texture. Positively chewy. Concentrated and dense, yet subtle and nuanced. A huge wine that’s light on its feet. Stopwatch still running on the finish. Miles and Manfred. Always pushing the envelope, but still instantly recognizable styles. Art transcends genres. “Dedicated to M’s adopted Brother.” — 7 years ago
Start of Christmas Celebrations. Excellent value champagne from the Wine Society. Extra creaminess from oak fermentation (fairly unusual, although Krug uses this method). Brioche, baked apple, lemon zest. — 7 years ago
