Meaningful bottle of wine. This was a gift to me from the 70th anniversary of D-Day. I’d like to thank the French Foreign Legion for making the wine. I enjoyed airdropping the French Foreign Legion and the 101 Airborne Devision from the U.S. on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. We are 75 years out now and I would love to commemorate the brave souls that took part on the D-Day invasion. God Bless you all. You are true heroes. 75 years out I commend the greatest generation. — 5 years ago
Tasted this alongside the Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder. Both incredible wines but this one just had a bit more of a punch to it. Dark ruby purplish red. Insanely tight to start on the nose with some raspberries. Developed some earthy tones like truffles and mushrooms with a few hours in the glass. Not as fruity as the Mt. Brave and pretty tight with some austere mountain berries. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Definitely needs some time to fully balance out. Long and dry finish. Very impressive and everything coats the glass. Drink from 2017 till 2036. — 8 years ago
Weird as all get out but in a wonderful way. Barnyard funk on the nose, orange blossom, a little nuttiness (like a sherry), full bodied, deep minerality. Probably not for everyone but if you're brave with your wine, pop open a bottle if you're lucky enough to find one. — 8 years ago

Brought this home from my trip to Swartland; Medium gold; medium intensity aromas of yellow apple, yellow plum, apple skin, hazelnut, almond skin, baking spices; dry, medium plus acid, medium minus tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium plus finish, very complex, outstanding — 4 years ago
Solid. Could be bolder, but it is smooth. — 5 years ago

Lots of blue/black fruits, black pepper, nutmeg, maybe some fennel, medium body, medium acid, medium++ tannin, medium+ finish. Excellent cool climate syrah, very inviting, impressive vino. — 8 years ago
I really like this wine. Opens up beautifully to reveal dark chocolate and dried fruits - almost raisin-like flavors. Really enjoyed it. — 8 years ago
Actual blend for 2011 is Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. And the wine NOT sold out. — 9 years ago
Very brave and successful effort to make an european style wine. Elegant, balanced, this wine is developing in glass in a wonderful way. — 10 years ago
As we are hunkering down here in the US and around the world, Italy was on our mind. We should have learned from China and how they kept the virus contained to mostly Hubei province. But Italy brought it home to all of us. Our hearts go out to the people there. New cases are rampant and deaths are going through the roof. A toast to the brave first line defenders, the nurses, the doctors who are putting their well being...there life, on the line, every day beyond exhaustion. The wine was crisp and balanced. Dark earthy fruit upfront and vivid tannins creating a lingering kick at the end. — 4 years ago

Aroma of raisin, ripe plum, dried mushroom, toffee, black tea, brown sugar, and soy source. Rich palate is balanced by well judged acidity and solid tannins.
This small winery was founded by a brave young woman at the age of 25 in 2005, who tragically passed away in 2017, survived by her husband and 2 daughters. For the superiore, the grapes were dried for 20 days. 36 months in large oak barrel and 12 month in bottle before release. About 3500 bottles made. — 6 years ago
Color of beautiful purple with green and grey note on the rim. Nose is saturated with berry jam like strawberries blueberry and cherry, good strength of alcohol, brandy, hint of spice, some peach, and good fruit aldehyde. Taste is also a wow, with bold tannin, dried berries notes especially strawberries, zesty aldehyde, powerful and chewy, oak, dried yet some sweet oak, cocoa even, and a bit vanilla. Aftertaste is long and enjoyable. She is loaded with flavors and balanced by brave tannins. — 6 years ago

A fascinating wine - got to love the brave addition of a white grape beyond Viognier- bring it on! — 8 years ago
Just awesome. Refined and elegant but with a ton of deep fruit. Structure and acid brings it together and keeps it perfect. Long finish. Had at Jerome Blanchet in Crillon le Brave. — 9 years ago
It's been so long since we've been brave enough to open a red, but with this high 80s "cold front" coming through, it seemed like the right time. This is Bill Easton's and Jane O'Riordan's Rhône-ish GSM. The color is a really lovely deep burgundy, almost mahogany. Smells like cassis, red fruit, and pipe tobacco. Tastes about the same, with some pronounced minerality, but actually surprisingly restrained. A great "cool weather" red! — 9 years ago
Another succesful Vinolus.
They are brave to blend to "Kalecik Karasi" Turkish Central Anatolian grade with Tempranillo.

2010 vintage. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Given the dramatic story of this estate (the owner died in 2009 and his brave pianist widow took over, with the help of her son who was only 14 years old at the time), it is amazing how they kept up quality. This 2010 is drinking beautifully now. Attractive nose with amarena cherries and cedar wood. Harmonious taste with a wonderful acidity balancing the slightly jammy amarena fruit and the well-integrated tannins. Good spicy length with retronasal fruit. Excellent value for 20 euros! Highly recommended! — 4 years ago
