One of those situations that can't be helped: marvellous wine that I'll likely never see again. Boutique producer in Mendoza that we picked up there. — 12 years ago

The first whiskey that I really enjoyed! — 11 years ago
Amarone cask finished? So silky & sexy that it's almost not Scotch.

Small boutique winery. A Recito style wine made from grape bunches that were dried in the classic method by drying "clusters of grapes on mats of straw in the sun" for four months. Aged for 36 months in French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered. Full-bodied blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Merlot. Complex, rich, dark fruit, spices. Liqueur or Cognac comes to mind. Sweet, refined, smooth, long finish. — 13 years ago
Very drinkable. The rum cask gives it a sweet finish. A good tipple for those that don't like a bold whisky. — 12 years ago
Floral and citrus notes. Caramel finish that doesn't linger too long. Easy to drink. — 12 years ago
This is from one of 39 bottles that came from a barrel of Scotch bottled by Bruichladdich under the Port Charlotte label. It was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2009, with a 7 year age statement. It's sweet bacon on the nose and spicy, smokey maple candy on the palette. — 13 years ago
It's scotch, and amazing at that — 13 years ago

The Balvenie makes some truly fantastic Scotch at all levels of aging. Having said that, every time they release a new batch of their Single Barrel 15yr aged varietal I do whatever I can to snag a bottle, and I'm not only never let down, I'm generally blown away. — 11 years ago
