On the palate flavors of ripe, juicy fruit with oak, tobacco, leather and peppery-spicy tones, dense and persistent, firm tightly wound tannins need to integrate with oak. Magnum 1999 Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia Masseto Merlot. Lunch at RW w S&L DiM and P&S Co. Drank after the '78 Heitz Martha's out of magnum. This wine was much, much bigger, as we expected and drank beautifully. Hard to say which we enjoyed more. Awesome. — 8 years ago
