Moss Wood

Moss Wood Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

One of life's great Food/Wine matches is a Tasmanian Grass fed Rib Fillet matched with an aged top quality Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. Very herbaceous. If you like a bit more Blackberry fruit in your Cabernets one should have drunk this about 8 years ago. This is savoury and showing its 14 years of age. Very classy but needs more fruit for more points. — 7 years ago

Pooley

Pinot Noir 2017

Toffee caramel notes showing the oak influence along with bright red cherries and other red fruits. On the palate a nice savoury earthiness - very Tassie. From the Coal River and only 5 klms from the high profile Tolpuddle Vineyard. Tasted again 9 weeks later on 19th February with consistent notes. Aromatic Bright and Fresh. A lot of these Tasmanian producers are boutique small operations who do not distribute overseas and can sell the lot in Australia. — 6 years ago

Ca' Rugate

Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2014

Deep rich Crimson. Touch of vanilla after decanting which blew off. Notes of Pipe Tobacco Baking spices and mineral. Was worried about the 2014 vintage which was poor in many parts of Italy but the process of Passito and the added concentration turned this into a wonderful wine. Perfect with Linguini Reggiano and fresh Tasmanian fine Truffle slices in the finest Olive Oil Bellissimo!! — 7 years ago

Petit Chablis Chardonnay 2013

Pale lemon. Nose of mainly chalky minerality with little Chardonnay fruit and zero oak influence. Crisp acid finish with short term cellaring potential. Enjoyed this with fresh Tasmanian Oysters. — 8 years ago

Vive la France! Red wine with fish? Hell yes... This nailed it with organic Tasmanian salmon. Darker looking than it taste... Which was an as it should be medium light Bourgogne. — 8 years ago

Bream Creek

Riesling 2012

Fantastic example of Tasmanian Riesling. With three years of bottle age, this has mellowed out into a more sophisticated and interesting wine. Fresh on the nose and smooth on the finish. At this price point, nothing else comes close and thankfully is devoid of some of the overpowering citrus that comes with younger Rieslings. — 8 years ago

Shaw and Smith

Tolpuddle Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

At a recent tasting at Berry Bros London of MWs this wine received a lot of praise. Initial toffee oak notes with a hint of cinnamon. A spotlessly clean palate reflecting the purity of Tasmanian wines. Light to medium weight palate yet good concentration. A delicious wine to be admired. 18. #aussiewine — 9 years ago

Tolpuddle Vineyard

Tasmania Chardonnay 2012

New Tasmanian wine brand- Tolpuddle AUD 55; #coalriver #tasmania ; shows how new fashioned cold climate chardonnay has moved; #dexterity ; muted chardonnay as with Chablis but without the milky #malolactic aromas; lots of non mainstream chardonnay adjuncts which make it taste compact and coiled; second time tasted; nice to see smoke and herbs instead of peach and sweetness; 13%. — 9 years ago
