Aphros Daphne Loureiro 2015

At Aeble, a new restaurant that didn't come up on Delectable. Stoned fruit--that's me--loves the stone fruit flavors, a hybrid peach and apricot. Didn't expect this Portuguese indigenous grape Loureiro to be so complex and bright. — 9 years ago

Croft Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Light straw color. Expressive nose with aromas of lime zest, pear, gooseberry, and freshly cut grass. Medium bodied featuring flavors of ripe lime and green apple. Crisp, refreshing finish with vibrant acidity. Andrew Rich and Croft Vineyards from whom the fruit is sourced are amongst the few Willamette Valley producers of Sauvignon Blanc. Single vineyard bottling. 14.1% alcohol. $22. — 7 years ago

Croft won't make an LBV 11, it all goes into the vintage port. They take a different approach to LBV than other Port producers. The top LBV are unfiltered and will age effortlessly from Noval and Niepoort for example. The LBV from Taylor's, Graham's and Dow's are filtered and are better now and not suitable for aging, though I am sure the 11s will have some legs.

Buy them now, they are in most stores and I am seeing the Niepoort start to disappear. They have moved onto 2012 already!

@Tom Kobylarz Thanks for the info! I have a nice stack of 11's I hope I will be alive for! They should be drinking in about 30..

Beautiful big funky, herbal, plummy nose - a bit of wet hay? Fine tannins fully integrated into round ripe black fruit. Add lots of provencale herb, farmyard, cut grass, and leather. Really good. — 10 years ago

Clos La Néore Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2011

A completely different experience than '10, rounder, but much lighter than the '09. Tons of mint and a beautiful texture with the classic Vatan stoney minerality. Won't last as long as '08-'10 but really good for early drinking. — 12 years ago

Stoney Vine Vineyard Syrah 2013

Well then. Still on the WA train!

If there were some magical continuum of wine, this is immediately to the left of hyper extracted Pinot Noir. I don't know that it would be accurate to call it a Pinot-lovers Syrah, but I'll go with that anyway.
