Bear Republic Brewing Company

Apex Special IPA

Excellent DIPA, big tropical and citrus malts, for a double, it drinks so smooth, cannot taste the ABV at all, taste profile is similar to Stone's " Enjoy By" but not as big fresh hopped, but close, when fresh, This is Beer Republic's Crown Jewel IPA, so if you are like me and love their other beers, Racer 5, Racer X, you will love this — 11 years ago

Château de Montfaucon

Baron Louis Cru Des Côtes du Rhône Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2010

From an estate just a stone's throw across the river from highly esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape. The winemaker, Rodolphe de Pins, is a UC Davis grad and one of the former winemakers from Vieux Telegraphe. This wine's pedigree and classic style shows through. Complex and layered with notes of cherry, blackberry, garrigue, and pepper. It continues to bloom with another layer of floral, pine needles, and cedar. Lingering tannins and vibrant acidity polish the lustrous finish. The 2010 vintage was exceptional for the Southern Rhone, this wine included. — 11 years ago

Lukcy Basartd Ale

Love this beer, Stone's Famous lank mark strong ale "Basartd" 17 Adversary, combines all three "Basartd's to make the best of all, big fresh hops, because it is only released fresh once a year, big west coast style, leans more to a double IPA, but rich Carmel malt backbone, just awesome brew, nails the best of all three — 12 years ago

Easy Jack Summer Session IPA

Great session IPA, love the white wine character, nice hops, different than most IPA's in this style, but a little thin and watered down, Stone's Go To, is better — 12 years ago

Eldridge Estate

Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2009

Enjoyed this but too carried away with dinner - rabbit, pancetta and prune pie baked a stone's throw from this winery in Red Hill - to pay close attention. But the wine looked fresh and youthful, with good red-fruit intensity and layered complexity. Spot on. — 12 years ago

Avery Brewing Company

The Maharaja Imperial India Pale Ale 1993

A perfect Double/Imperial IPA, this Batch#20 December 2014, This define's the style, is it better than Pliny The Elder? I would say so, I would go as far to say I like than Pliny The Younger, the closest beer I can compare it to, Big Big Hops, excellent sweet malt to balance out this big hop Bomb, this just so delicious and smooth for such a monster of a brew, 102 IBU, 10.2% ACL One Great beer that any beer geek needs to try, A true Classic like Stone's Ruination that changed IPA's forever, This one sets the bar so high, cannot wait to see another beer surpass this — 11 years ago

Double Bastard Ale

This is one of my all time favorites, released every year, and sells out quickly, it is one of Stone's most aggressive beers, if not the most, borders on a barley wine, huge malts and hops, 11% ABV, big big Beer, this not for the faint of heart, I Love this beer, and buy a case every year, it cellars very well, but fresh, it blows you away, the hops are awesome, This is one of my favorite beers, from my favorite brewery, Excellent beer — 12 years ago

Go To IPA

I cannot believe I forgot to review this, had this so many times, maybe I did review it, just do not see the post, anyway, this is Stone's session IPA, what that means is, it is a lighter version of a IPA, most have 6-7 % alc/vol, this 4.5%, they use a hop bursting process, adding late addition dry hope at the end, big tropical notes and flavor, mango, passion fruit, pineapple, excellent beer, when you do not want to be blown away, but still want a hoppy fruity IPA — 11 years ago
