A Classic Saint-Estèphe, the Calon-Ségur 2000 offers up sumptuous aromas of steeped blackberries, forest floor, wet wood, game, char, asphalt, saddle leather, violets, and brown sugar. The influence of the estate vineyard's deep gravelly soils is evident in the nose and in a delicate vein of minerality, that sits like filagree atop velvety, caressing tannins. It's developed nicely, with no hard edges and a pleasing and lengthy finish. — 10 years ago
Raisin red/brown. Sugar plum nose. Raisin, leather with light tannins and only slightly more acidity. Changing fkavors as it opened up. Short finish, but still clings to the tongue. The sweetness went well with spicy Indian food. — 10 years ago
Acidic, spicy: a delight from napa! — 11 years ago
Tawny amber color. Translucent with a heavy weight in the glass. Has a hotness in the nose and almost seems a bit fortified in the mouth. Notes of brown sugar, mocha, some pepper and sherry. You can definitely feel the power and weight of this wine, but we suspect this has turned a bit to become a little bit madeirized. Still a memorable experience. — 8 years ago
Surprised to learn it's a merlot/Malbec blend. Drinks like a rose even if it doesn't look like one! — 9 years ago

Wow!! Brown spice, floral perfume, crushed berry. Amazing wine! — 11 years ago
Medium red. Highly complex, aromatic nose combines raspberry, underbrush, flowers and spices. Juicy, energetic and mineral-driven, if a bit youthfully imploded (and still affected by the bottling). Not a fat wine but with its flavors of red berries, mocha, earth and brown spices it's an essence of Morey-Saint-Denis. The acids and tannins are not at all aggressive, which should give this grand cru relatively early accessibility. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2017) — 8 years ago
Thought by RC to be dead but really excellent. Probably fruit forward in youth but now nicely resolved and full of earthy secondary notes of dark fruits and minerals and earth. Long finish and fragrant nose of ripe fruits. Gerhard Revere dinner 8/21/26. — 9 years ago
Perfect paired with post rehearsal pizza and Twin Peaks. And alliterations. — 9 years ago
Love this blend. Cranberry and jammy cherry, a little peppery and a lingering hint of smoke. — 10 years ago
Blind Tasting MOT=96
Color: Brick red, hints of brown probably due to age
Nose: Earthy and lots of barnyard
Palate: Solid tannins and dry makes me think French Bordeaux
Opinion: Lovely wine, this one was the ringer (blind tasting was new world 95+ reds), delicious and so quaffable! — 10 years ago
Honey, brown sugar, caramel, no sticky aftertaste. Perfection. — 10 years ago
