So when you just want something to drink, why not open a 2000 Bordeaux. I was skeptical when I purchased this for $34 last year but it was from the winery. Well, cork split when opening, but it is excellent. — 8 years ago

Right when opening, lots of tomato on the nose but absolutely delicious and well balanced drinking on the palate. After some time in the glass definitely a lot of Sherry cask on the nose to follow overall a delicious and well balanced wine. Good to note – split bottle. Year – 2005. — 9 years ago
Deeply mineral and fruity with an excellent fruit and cedar nose. — 9 years ago
1990 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Bordeaux. Bordeaux course during K charity wine dinner, alongside the '90 Cheval Blanc. Always weird to switch gears from a burgundy to a bordeaux. Both bordeaux bottles were decanted for just over an hour by the time we served. This wine was much more vegetal than the Cheval- distinctly green notes of celery and bell pepper. Again, the table was split as to their preference. This wine also changed quite a bit while sitting in the glass and definitely opened up a lot more. Perhaps decant a little while longer next time? — 9 years ago
Had with beef, split opeNed w Coravin. It was so good! — 7 years ago
Rose, cranberry, lavender, redcurrant, plum on the nose with a beautiful hint of effervescence on the palate and similar delicate red flavors, finishing with textural complexity and bright acid. Lovely with a slight chill and beautiful pairing with calf liver and duck frites. Here we come summer friendly reds! — 7 years ago
NYE =‘s Krug Rosé. I can’t say I completely agree with what the Krug fireplace mantel suggests, but it’s certainly very delicately delicious and will put a guaranteed smile on your face! The mouthfeel is entirely feminine. The micro bubbles are unmistakable Krug and made with great precision. Fruits of; black raspberries, black cherry, cherries, watermelon mid way to the rhine, strawberries & understated citrus notes with pink grapefruit dominating the blend. The fruits are so restrained but are perfectly styled on the leaner side yet so ripe, juicy and delicious. There’s brioche but it comes fresh from the best of Parisian bakeries. Sea spray, minerality that is so soft & delicate, it’s hard to call it minerality. Krug Rosé reveals the very best, smooth, silky, velvety chalkiness that can be found on this planet. Pink roses/florals for days. Perfect acidity and a glorious, long, rich, beautiful finish that doesn’t end. If you enjoy wines that show pure elegance, perfect finesse and haven’t had Krug Rosé, treat yourself to a bottle or a split. The split may leave you wanting more. However, I can’t think of a better wine/way to celebrate the current year and bring in the next. Happy New Year all! May 2018 be peaceful, successful and spent with your family, best friends, prodigious wines and excellent food pairings! — 8 years ago

Plum, blackberry, campfire, well-oiled armor. Highly recommend. Full flavor but not overwhelming in body. — 9 years ago
Excellent. Bright and paired well with a pot roast - brought out more acidity and cut through the richness. — 7 years ago
Estate had prior succession problems & split into 2 with original Clos L'Eglise (Rouchut family) on one side and Clos L'Eglise-Clinet (Mauléon family)on the other. Clos L'Eglise has a wine-producing tradition spread over several centuries. A blend of 80% Merlot & 20% Cab Franc, 100% new oak, wonderful warm aromas of fruit & spice. Cherry & Strawberry flavors, with notes of cinnamon & nice energetic mouthfeel. Firm tight tannins that are beginning to open but should continue to age well. Put on Must Try list — 8 years ago
Second wine we tasted after our tour at Champagne Billecart-Salmon. Our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the domains history and all the wines.
Copperish pink and very lively. Layered nose with roses, strawberries, light raspberries, strawberry crème, and a little herbal. High acidity (7/10) but balanced with a slightly smooth mouthfeel. Layered with strawberries, tropical fruits, kiwi, grapefruit and melon. Very fresh and crisp. Medium to medium plus body with a long finish. Drink till 2024.
Made with a minimum of 40% Chardonnay with the remainder split between Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier of which 5 to 8% is from red wine. Aged for around 3 years on the lees.

Having an Idaho vs Napa cab comparison. We went to Idaho for a wedding in June and purchased some local wines.
2014 Split Rail Winery vs 2013 Chappellet Napa Valley cab.
This is massive at 15.6% abv with equally big blueberry, cassis, smoke, and touches of lavender. Very surprised by how well this wine was! This was $33 vs the $65 Chappellet price point. — 6 years ago
