This pic is of a Texas wine from local Spicewood Vineyards. It’s smooth and easy to drink.

@Delectable Wine: This is Ron Yates’ Oso Estrella label Russian River Valley Pinot.
This is Dutton Ranch fruit from Russian River Valley. Ron Yates Winery in TX Hill Country makes this special wine and I was extremely impressed. Very nice @Ron Yates
I opened this alongside the ‘14 Spicewood Russian River Valley Pinot to see how these RRV fruit pinots made by Texans fared against each other. To me, this was the clear cut winner. ABV in this is about 1% higher than the Spicewood (14.1 vs 14.9) but it’s well hidden. Nose on this had more of a fruitcake note alongside bing cherries and cola. Really nice complexity and acidity from start to finish...cedar, rhubarb pie, dark chocolate covered cherries, and a spice box type finish. A lovely RRV Pinot. — 7 years ago

Beautiful bouquet, fruity overtones. Very drinkable white wine — 5 years ago
I had the ‘16 vintage of this a few months back in comparison to the Ron Yates SB. I thought the ‘16 was nice, but that the Ron Yates SB was better in every aspect. @Ron Yates told me, in his opinion, the ‘17 Spicewood was better than both the ‘16 Spicewood and the Ron Yates ‘16.
It’s 103 here in TX, and I’m sweating more than this bottle, so it’s prime SB weather.
I’m happy to report that I think I’m aligned with Ron here. In comparison to the Spicewood ‘16, the aromatics on this just jump out of the glass with tons of fruit. Kiwi, lychee, and peach...wow! Great nose. Sharp acidity highlighted by honeyed grapefruit, limestone and chalk. Well done, Ron! — 7 years ago
Continuing my way through some unique TX wines from Ron Yates Winery and Spicewood Winery.
@Delectable Wine : This is the Ron Yates Petulant Natural Sparkling Rosé wine. It was not in the database.
This is my first PetNat wine and this is a head scratcher! Ron advised me to let this get cold for a few days upright to allow the sediment to fall, then carefully and slowly pour/decant. Sealed under bottle-cap, this fizzed only a little bit upon opening. Murky and muddled at first, once it settled in the glass, grapefruit rind and clay covered strawberries. Incredibly fine bubbles. The finish was very crisp, and a bit more strawberries and raspberries came out the longer it was open.
What an absolute treat to try! Many thanks @Ron Yates on helping craft this wine...incredibly cool that TX is making these! — 7 years ago
Yet another winner from Spicewood Vineyards - 2017 an improvement from the 2016. Dark, bold & spicy! — 5 years ago

A nice smooth summer white — 6 years ago
Another dip in to my TX wine journey, but this time with a twist. Spicewood sources fruit from Cali and WA state for a few of their bottles and makes them at the winery. This RRV Pinot is from Wohler Vineyard (I believe Sojourn makes a nice Pinot from here).
Ruby red in the glass. The nose on this is quite spot on. Black cherry, maple-birch wood, and stewed blackberries. Acidity is medium. Fairly light on the front and mid-palate but a LOT of flavor on the backend...strawberry and raspberries preserve, herbal seasoning. This wine benefited from food being paired with it (my wife’s awesome cauliflower crust spinach and chicken pizza in particular). — 7 years ago
