Cloudy chocolate color with a thick head. Rich creamy mouthfeel. Fig, prune, chocolate and baking spice. Toasted grain on the long finish. Thats a pretty beer! — 8 years ago

Flowery aroma with hop and coriander, light attack and sharp bitterness. — 10 years ago
Much richer on the nose than the 08. Fruits are riper as well. Strong black raspberry cola, mint & eucalyptus, sage, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, plum, anise and decayed dark florals. On the palate; lots of lifting heated spices immediately at it sets. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, plum, black raspberry cola, mint & eucalyptus, sage, anise, underbrush, soft leather, wood shavings, soy, fair amount of baking spices, good round acidity and a thick, round, elegant long finish. — 7 years ago

Medium body, medium dark, medium malt, light yeast, light hop - perfect balance — 8 years ago
What a treat. From the company to the antics of the cork removal, all was fantastic. Not surprised with some immediate mustiness on the nose, giving way to a rich but smooth aged blue cheese, mushrooms, soy sauce, earth, and just a faint hint of dried red fruit. Over the next 20 minutes the glass development was out of control, changing with each and every whiff and sip. Earthy umami, oxidative, and and slightly stewed reds to begin quickly opened to nice dried strawberries on the palate and nose, and advancing to moderately subdued ripened strawberries and cranberries- after 61 years and still kickin with fruit! Amazing. Then after about 20 minutes of rapid metamorphosis, it gave in and decided to fade to a very pleasant sipper...awesome. — 8 years ago
Lovely pure fruit. A soy rush quality. Lots of focus and structure. Years ahead — 9 years ago
A lovely DRC in the twilight of its drinking years. Upon opening we thought it would fall into the bitter tobacco and soy sauce category but it fell off the knife edge the other way and gave lovely rhubarb, tea notes and sweet tobacco. What a great experience. — 9 years ago
One of the best Belgian ales around — 10 years ago
I had the 2008. It's well balanced, full bodied and fruit forward. I had it both with steak and ginger soy chicken skewers. — 7 years ago
This will always be one of my favorites. — 8 years ago
Bon ok elle a déjà été mentionnée mais elle fait partie de mes préférées. Une petite brune ambrée avec un mélange boisé et caramélisé. J'adore — 8 years ago

Can't believe I've never had this! — 9 years ago
Mouton Vertical dinner. Wow! One of my dream wines to try. This btl came from the cellars of Mahler-Besse collection and was in perfect condition. Ruby red color, sweet ripe red fruits on the nose with eucalyptus, cassis, chocolate mint and exotic spices, had this cola thing going on with soy and caramel. So big, rich, opulent, sexy and young but fully mature. What can I say just a perfect wine in every way! — 9 years ago
2006. Just getting into gear with plenty of time to go. A good bottle with no brett, great structure and lovely balance with the acidity providing the scaffolding for the fruit. Great with a soy sauce and bourbon- marinaded flank steak. — 9 years ago
This is pure enjoyment and concentration of beer. Makes you think that sometimes life just doesn't get much better and delicious than this. It is pure and refine, with delicious nuances and complexity and finess. 93 pts. — 11 years ago
