Dead soldier! La Bistro, Honolulu — 12 years ago
Only 13.3 alc on the label but this old soldier initially showed desiccated - high ripeness grape aromas. Those blew off after about half an hour with more dried cherries, leather and smoke notes prevalent.
Initial sweet fruit assault leads plums and raisened cranberries. Earth and mushroom sweeps up the finish.

Another dead soldier, one worth revisiting. Nice fruit! — 10 years ago
Fallen soldier. Opened up the shop this morning to find this 13 Briords Mag shattered on the floor. Half the wine was left to be filtered and drunk. A baby still, piercing acid and concentration. A damn shame. — 10 years ago

HONOR. DEDICATION. VALOR. Words that epitomize a soldier. This wine is a tribute to the young men and women who have served our country proudly. A portion of the proceeds will be given to families that have lost a loved one in military action or been severely injured. — 11 years ago
Tin Soldier is a new brand arising from the old Hunter Valley winery- Wandin Valley; over 40 years established by one former star of the soapie; this 2007 then AUD 15 has not changed price; not an overly fat chardonnay; rich but taut with salmon pate and dusted pan cooked flathead slices; the Hunter does chardonnay well; chardonnay in tights stuff; 13.2% 7yo — 11 years ago

Went to a wine shop in UES, NYC looking for something to go with takeout Pizza. Saw this lone soldier on the shelf. I can never resist any wine made by Katy Wilson. Pizza, even NY Pizza, never tasted so good. The wine was superb! — 11 years ago
Memorial day dead soldier! Part of the first salvo! — 11 years ago

Old soldier has hung in there very admirably. Desiccated rose petal and Bing cherry. Dusted earth leads to initial sweetness of ripe black fruit and black tea mix with concentrated blackberry jam.
Finish lingers a long time. Clove and five spice with Amarone like sweetness. — 9 years ago
