My first introduction to Santa Fe Brewing was a couple years ago on the West Bank (Harvey, not Hebron) by the best homebrewer I know. I had never experienced a Black IPA, and it was an eye-opener. Since that experience, I’ve come to understand that Santa Fe Brewing Co. is not only the first craft brewery in New Mexico, they’re also the state’s oldest brewery, and in fact, they’re now even the largest brewer in state.
The 7K IPA started as a seasonal beer, but was recently added to Santa Fe’s year-round repertoire, and deservedly so. The name references the elevation of Santa Fe (the city and the brewery). It is, indeed, an elevated, modern-styled, West Coast influenced, IPA. Enormously aromatic, with hoppy pine and citrus peel, followed by a juicy and tart white grapefruit. The mouthfeel is extraordinarily smooth, especially when you consider the abv is 7.0% — 7 years ago
Very nice! Filling but not too heavy. Wife loves it also. — 9 years ago
Max'd out petrol and beeswax. This wine caused an epiphany that my latest expressions and interpretations of Japanese influenced cuisine tastes like umami lifted city smog and combined is a fucking remarkable experience. Reveling in edible militaristic industrial sense overloads. Pretty damn surprised here. This is a legit Riesling experience. Almost no fruit. Hell ya. — 10 years ago
Very refreshing and not too hoppy. My style of IPA! — 10 years ago

Cerebral and spectacular. Best Bordeaux I’ve had. A stunning showing at 19yrs young. I called this early 2000s Bordeaux but actually thought it was Right Bank...there is a gorgeous medley of soft and ripe dark blue and black fruit here. Not juicy, but more floral and expressive. Palate was lifted with fantastic structure and softened tannins (thanks to 4hrs in the decanter). Pipe tobacco but hardly any herbal or leather notes. The softness of this wine is what made it a star. Flavor without being dense. Co WOTN. — 6 years ago

Hard and hoppy. Damn delicious and one of the most original hard apple ciders I've enjoyed. Yum! — 8 years ago
This is Tioga-Sequoia Brewery's Joaquin Murrieta Chili Beer. Where do I start? The terroir? (Fresno, where so many good things come from, grows the chiles, that make this beer a spicy, hot and cold phenomenon) The smog? The heat? The complicated geo-political space? The morlock valley we all are happy to disparage with one side of our mouth while stuffing it's stone fruits in the other? Sharp, hot chile flavor in the front, round, smokey, still hot chile flavor in the back. Lingers a long time on the exhale. A yeasty, wheaty nose doesn't give any of it's secrets away. I haven't seen this gracing the supermarket aisles any where else but Fresno, so if you find yourself there, grab some. 2017 — 8 years ago

A great dessert type wine! From one of only a handful of wineries in Cañon City, CO. Full of raspberry and blueberry flavors. Reminiscent of a light port. — 6 years ago

Wow! To date the best ginger beer that I've had. Spicy, smooth, not too sweet, and best of all it has alcohol in it! Definitely one to try if you're a fan of ginger beers or Moscow mules. — 9 years ago

My other Co-WOTN. For me, these wines are up there with the best in Napa. The history, the people and the wines are just top shelf. Loved our visit here earlier this year. Having had the ‘13, ‘14 and ‘16, this seems to be the most accessible and certainly more so than the ‘13. This was powerful the entire evening and the fruit stayed ripe and sweet covering the red, blue and black spectrum. Graphite, dark chocolate up front, but it did turn more elegant at the finish showing potpourri and baking spices. Sheer To Kalon power. — 6 years ago
