Certainly different than The Pontiff. This was lighter and more classically Rosé whereas in a blinder glass I’m not sure I would identify The Pontiff as a Rosé at all. For my taste, this was enjoyable, but not mind-blowing (which is usually the case for me with wines from SQN). — 5 years ago
Absolutely brilliant. This is one of the best grenaches I’ve had in a long time. Incredible aromas of plumbs, blackberries, candied blueberries, along with hints of cinnamon and clove. The palate is absolutely stunning: seamless evolution of fruit coupled with perfectly intergrated sweet tannins leading to a finish that goes on for over a minute. I have no idea if this will improve with more time in the cellar, but I have no idea why you would wait: this is unreal. Manfred Krankle is a GOD!!! 👍 — 7 years ago
Best palate of all night at SNQ tasting @Bottles. Nose not that superlative. — 7 years ago
The vino that started it all in vintage court. Definitely at or past peak but my favorite wine maker of all time — 11 years ago

Grenache delivered...one of a kind! — 10 years ago
The 2nd WNH Zoom tasting on 3/29 with a “open any white” theme. The On The Lam is eleven years old and is reminiscent of the Backwards and Forwards at this point in its development. I had a Backwards & Forwards in 2017 that had a ridiculously delicious array of secondary characteristics that were just outstanding in their funky goodness. This bottle reminds me more of that wine at age 10. It has transformed from youthful to mature but displays no adolescent awkwardness. Honeyed melon, marzipan, candied pear and burnt marshmallow envelop a firm backbone of acidity. It’s adding weight but ever so slowly. Right now it’s still lithe and pushy and a changeling in the glass that warrants frequent check ins because a night of drinking will deliver 4 or 5 different wines for your drinking pleasure. — 5 years ago
Holy moly, where did this one come from!? This had the nose of full throttle drunken elderberries and freshly baked blackberry pie with pepper and spice and everything nice! This tastes like whole cluster Grenache If there really is such a thing. Black and blue, pepper and spice, black cherry cola, mouth coating, inky. Dissecting out all of the notes that were swirling around, it would take me probably an hour, and everyone would be bored and probably stop reading. This was massive. And has probably a couple of decades left! — 6 years ago
Sensational SQN at 16.9% alcohol was the sexiest “little chick” (Gallinita) at the party courtesy of @Eric LaMasters while you could feel the substance of this wine the high alcohol was not a factor at all....illustrating once again how Manfred is a magician at bringing the chained inhabitant of the barrel to the edge of the waterfall but never allowing it to go up and over the edge and crash and die on the rocks below. Massive (for a rose’) but an intricate and somehow delicate wine. Grenache dominates the blend with ample bright red fruit, herbs, stewed strawberry and a decided creamy texture. Unfurled and blossomed throughout the night. Best Glass was the last. — 7 years ago

A couple of wines to celebrate our anniversary.
The nose alone was intoxicating. Dark plush berries abound. Gave it about 3 hours of air. It was ready to go. — 5 years ago
