Grenache delivered...one of a kind! — 9 years ago
The 2nd WNH Zoom tasting on 3/29 with a “open any white” theme. The On The Lam is eleven years old and is reminiscent of the Backwards and Forwards at this point in its development. I had a Backwards & Forwards in 2017 that had a ridiculously delicious array of secondary characteristics that were just outstanding in their funky goodness. This bottle reminds me more of that wine at age 10. It has transformed from youthful to mature but displays no adolescent awkwardness. Honeyed melon, marzipan, candied pear and burnt marshmallow envelop a firm backbone of acidity. It’s adding weight but ever so slowly. Right now it’s still lithe and pushy and a changeling in the glass that warrants frequent check ins because a night of drinking will deliver 4 or 5 different wines for your drinking pleasure. — 4 years ago
VA! Flaw! — 5 years ago
Absolutely brilliant. This is one of the best grenaches I’ve had in a long time. Incredible aromas of plumbs, blackberries, candied blueberries, along with hints of cinnamon and clove. The palate is absolutely stunning: seamless evolution of fruit coupled with perfectly intergrated sweet tannins leading to a finish that goes on for over a minute. I have no idea if this will improve with more time in the cellar, but I have no idea why you would wait: this is unreal. Manfred Krankle is a GOD!!! 👍 — 6 years ago
As you would expect from Manfred. After a while you just run out of superlatives and just sit there with a Syrah stained smile on your face. Rich dark fruit with beef blood smell (that term doesn’t do justice to how interesting and delicious the combination really is). Tremendous finish, dark color to the edge. Just a great wine experience. My only bottle. I have no clue how long this wine could go before peaking. — 6 years ago
Inky and thick in the glass, pure velvet on the tongue, berry muffins and wintergreen on the nose. The weight of the wine is masterfully offset by the undercurrent of acidity and the tannins literally melt through the finish. As mysterious and intense as the bottle it comes from. — 7 years ago
Certainly different than The Pontiff. This was lighter and more classically Rosé whereas in a blinder glass I’m not sure I would identify The Pontiff as a Rosé at all. For my taste, this was enjoyable, but not mind-blowing (which is usually the case for me with wines from SQN). — 4 years ago

Very concentrated and oaky. Typical Parker style. There are some port characteristics for sure. — 6 years ago
Best rosé I’ve tasted. Close your eyes and you could be drinking a full-on red - love it.
Thank you @Eric LaMasters for this gift. — 6 years ago
Young, but drinking well. Typical SQN nose and flavor profile. I enjoy Manfred’s Grenache wines even more than his Syrah-based wines. Will be hard to lay off my remaining bottles. — 7 years ago
The vino that started it all in vintage court. Definitely at or past peak but my favorite wine maker of all time — 10 years ago
