Silky and smooth for a young gun. Like laying in a bowl of fresh blackberries. — 8 years ago
High energy, beautiful notes of gun flint, peach, lime, wet stone — 8 years ago
Super like this wine think it's the last one bummer — 9 years ago
Crisp citrus and refreshing. Good fruit and clean taste. Peach and maybe some nuts into a respectable finish. Rating based on getting the wine for 18$ — 9 years ago
Still primary and showing very young, this is tight and slightly austere with cassis, black pepper, gun metal oil, oak, expresso and licorice along with underlying sweet fruit. Long life ahead! — 9 years ago
Nice Pinot. Needs time to open up — 10 years ago
A gorgeous bottle! People forget about the original top gun with the new lieu dits, but this is smokin. — 10 years ago
Gun Metal continues to be Jerry's strongest showing, out of several quite impressive years at Guardian, across all wines. Outstanding representation of his blending skills! — 11 years ago
Liked but jumped the gun. Give it a few more years and will be outstanding. — 11 years ago
Delightful sake! End up buying more back to drink. :) — 7 years ago
Dig these Koehler-Ruprecht trocken prädikatswein bottlings; they smell like they’re going to be sweet but then surprise the palate with their relative dryness. This Kallstadter kabinett trocken pours a medium (-) intensity straw-gold hue. Moderate concentration of aromatics of underripe stone fruit, shiso, wet stone minerality, a bit of petrol-y TDN character, a leesy aged cheese rind character, and a very slight honeyed spice that might signal a very small percentage of botrytized grapes might have gone into this wine (but I’m not 100% sure it is botrytis; it’s very faint if it is). On the palate, the wine is simultaneously soft and focused, with more slightly underripe stone fruit, wet stone minerality, slightly underripe mango, a savory, aged cheese rind leesiness, and some very subtle floral tones. Medium (+)/high acid, oily, softly textured light/medium (-) body, medium in-balance alcohol, and it’s dry-ish? Wouldn’t quite say off dry but definitely has a slight bit of balancing RS. Overall, pretty good stuff; haven’t yet been disappointed by Koehler-Ruprecht. — 8 years ago
Whoa!! Lots of grilled meat smoke and gun powder on the nose. Pepper and leather and spice box. Finish is earthy and mushroomy and long. — 9 years ago
Incredibly drinkable! — 9 years ago
Extremely layered but delicate nose lets you know you are in for a treat. There's no kick of gooseberry or cat pee, funk or wool. Instead, a great balance between the signature gun smoke, flint and lit match, layered with extra clean lemon, lime, and grapefruit. Palate is rich and round, full of citrus fruit and a stream of acidity. — 9 years ago
Refreshing, easy drinking wine, fruity with a dry finish. — 9 years ago
Black fruit, a little gun smoke, oregano. Fantastic value. Need to find more — 10 years ago
Nice blend, solid fruit — 10 years ago
High pitched, intense red fruit, screaming acidity...killer — 11 years ago
Big Day, Valentine's and Ash Wed, so had to bring out a big gun. Brought it back from our visit to the winery in 2013, and it's luscious, round and yummy! Getting chocolate, raspberries, cherries and a hint of spice in a wonderful melody mid palate... Just awesome. Glad I have 1 more! — 7 years ago
Yeasty with slight oxidation, yet clean and citrusy with a nice creamy body presence. — 8 years ago
Subtle, complex. Ripe melon on the nose. Palate: bosch pear, stone fruit, unripe squash, gun flinty minerality and a touch of oak. — 8 years ago
Light, not too sweet, good for summer — 9 years ago
Minerals and some gun flint on the nose with hints of chocolate. Has a little firecracker taste! Mineral and gun flint follow on the tongue! This is such a rugged Pinot! Love it! Almost for those that truly can enjoy such a big daddy Pinot! — 9 years ago
Yummy, woodsy and easy to drink. — 9 years ago
First sip was great and it just got better. Bold, earthy with notes of wood and fruit. Long, smooth finish. — 10 years ago
Crisp apple notes. Tangy with a bit of acidity. Pairs well with spicy foods. Will buy again. — 10 years ago
