A bottle left after a major tasting party we hosted, this Chardonnay hails from Edna Valley, CA. Established in 2004, the Sextant label is quickly growing into a regional mainstay though still dwarfed by Edna Valley vineyards. The Edna Valley appellation, a sub-app of the Central Coast AVA, is most well known for it's Chardonnay, where it's long hot growing season imparts the terroir of the region beautifully. These Chardonnays are meant to be drunk within 5 or so years - so enjoy them now! ~$20 | #sextant #chardonnay #ednavalley

On the eyes: Deep bright yellow, clear, med stain, med tears. No gas/floc.

On the nose: Fresh grass, floral notes, and green apple with a bit of butter and slate. Med alcohol.

On the tongue: Med acid, med-tannin, med alcohol, med body, buttery round mouthfeel. Green apples, unripe mango, and lychee with a faint touch of mineral and perfume on the way down. A bit sweet on the finish. — 8 years ago

Stunning and incredibly memorable! The best wine I’ve had in a while and certainly the best Aligote hands down. Texture was absolutely spot on. Creamy but assertive from the skin contact. Charming and strong. An ugly duckling that doesn’t yet know it’s a swan. Could drink many many bottles of this and never grow bored. — 6 years ago
