Alto-Piemonte/ Lessona at its best. Dark-medium ruby red with orange / brown edges. The dark color comes from 15% Vespolia. Floral notes, spicy, tobacco and some dark berries. Medium body with fresh acidity and a long finish. — 4 years ago
The 1961 Lessona from Tenuta Sella is alive and kicking! Plenty of acidity and red fruit, it pops with a surprising freshness for a wine of such age. A rather excellent companion while catching up with a friend from (high) school.
$199 on the Maialino wine list in NYC, which is packed with such gems. — 6 years ago

Great local wine in Sardinia. — 3 years ago
Light body. Not overly fruity or dry. Pleasant on hot day between meals. — 4 years ago
Italy. Red. Sardegna. Another great red from Sardegna. I’ve decided I like cannonau. This one is more fruity than the Sella & Mosca with black cherry and plum notes. I actually might prefer it but both are great, used this in cooking and enjoying with a hearty tomato-based pasta. My favorite wines thus far have been from the Italian island regions: Sardinia and Sicily. $14. 13% alc by vol. — 5 years ago
Spectacular. Couldn’t drink enough of this. Rich, smooth and round tannins, typical of a great noble Aglianico. — 7 years ago
Strong strawberry notes. Slightly on the sweeter side, but nicely refreshing. — 8 years ago
