Wow this has gotten glorious and turned the corner. Deep ripe mid to late season cherries. Spice. Violets, raspberry cake. The nose is elite and expressive. Wow. Citrus as well. More like tangelo zest. Acid is fierce as this is 2010 and this is amazingly fresh and has lovely sweetness and grip. Perfect balance and terrific purity. Awesome. This is really showing well. This has a decade to go. Just wonderful. — 5 years ago
What a nose. Spice, ripe and overflowing mid season cherries, pine resin and sap. Wow. Huge sweetness as well. Smells like 1er Cru Côte de Nuits. Stunning. Palate is nervy and engaging with huge mid season semi sweet cherry fruit. Juicy and prickly acids with wonderful juicy and ripe tannins with a citrus twang on the finish. In the zone right now. So elegant and yet so flavorful. — 7 years ago

Perfect juicy fresh, early season strawberry notes. Love to death — 9 years ago
Yum! I love the rose season. This is a clean, crisp rose... I would drink it anytime from April thru September. It reminds us of our trip thru the Loire Valley. — 10 years ago
Not the team’s I wanted to see, so I’ll just stick to the basics. Went well with some A5 coffee crusted New York Strip, the steak 🥩 is so rich you don’t want to waste it on a fruity wine
The 2010 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. The vineyard is situated on deep gravel deposits in the Macau and Ludon villages of the appellation and has 9,600 vines per hectare.
Vinious 93 The 2010 Cantemerle is vigorous and open on the nose, a mixture of red and black fruit with cedar and humidor scents. I admire the focus and detail. The palate is rounded in texture on the entry. This is a plumper, richer, more fruit-driven 2010 with a lush finish on the context of the growing season. You could broach this now, although I would prefer to leave it another three or four years. This is another excellent wine and candidate for most over-performing cru this vintage. First rose of the season. Opened it with tuna tataki on the grill. Nice dose of acidity and a nose of rose petals and strawberry. It is a rose so was not expecting to be blown away. The bottle was finished in a blink of an eye. — 6 years ago
Man these 16 Thörle Pinots are stunning and will age so so well. They take time to unfurl but once they do your attention is totally captured. Needs coaxing as the Kalkstein did but once it gets going the Grand Cru character of the sites shines through. Deep cherry fruit and an insane perfume start to develop. Mid season cherries. Earthy, mineral and brooding. Pomegranate, wild berries. Just so much. Nuances appear each minute. Really insane spice. Stunning. Palate is stacked with incredible freshness and mid to sour cherry fruit. Lots of it. Terrific spice after 10-15 minutes open. Painfully sweet almost with amazing freshness and terrific length. Still a baby but what a great wine. Needs 3-5 years — 7 years ago

Fall is here and it’s the season I love to drink port. Dow, producing Ports for over 2 centuries. One of the first to establish its own vineyards, acquiring Senhora da Ribeira, in the remote Upper Douro, in 1890 & Bomfim, in the heart of Alto Douro, in 1896. Aromas of ripe fruits, fragrant spices and sweet notes. On the palate flavors of candied apple and jammy blackberries with cacao and honey. Firm dusty tannins, good balance, long finish. Perfect now. — 4 years ago
Village burgs with some age rock. Gorgeous wide open nose. Spice, herbs, big mid to late season cherry fruit. Super bright and high toned. Tangy black cherry and red cherry fruit. Great freshness and energy. Really good acids and tons of length. What a value. Showing serious complexity on the palate. Wonderful elegance and serious structure and sap. Great stuff. — 5 years ago
Smoking nose of bright tangy mid to late season red cherries. Ethereal, confectionary and gorgeous. Really bright and lifted. Expansive and deeply aromatic. Layered and full of nuance. Really terrific nose. 9.6. Just stunning. Palate is sweet, silky, gamey and just flat out gorgeous with a very expressive hit of delicate and elegant minerality. This is mindblowing. Did not expect this to be that great. Beautiful light and translucent color as well. Such fine tannins. Hit of licorice develops on the nose. Really wonderful sweetness but also terrific depth and such finesse. Usually Beaune is more bigger and brawny but this one. Blind I’d say Volnay. Very impressive. — 5 years ago
First taste of the 2016. Nose is gorgeous. 16 was an ideal ripening season Sven told me and he picked when he wanted and this nose is spectacular. It’s bramble with mid season cherry fruit, spice and mineral. Really fragrant. It’s incredibly earthy and mineral. After some air gorgeous raspberry and strawberry. Almost a Nebbiolo like vibe. Palate is terrifically juicy and sweet with incredibly tiny cherry fruit intensity. Like only the best cherrie from a large bowl. A sweet tartness with terrific freshness and wonderful acidity. Awesome. — 7 years ago

@Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher Bum A shout out & thanks to Paul for finding this on sale and sending it my way so I could stock up. Seeing as Jeff Bezos wouldn’t do the normal Whole Foods Wine sale in mid November. I guess short on cash this Q4? 🤷♂️ — 7 years ago

Just an awesome nose. Stunning purity. Cherries galore. Mid to late season and it’s got a lipstick like intensity. Just gorgeous. What clarity. Girard killed 2019. The fruit is so deep and Girard is a fruit master. Unreal spice and beautiful subtle earthiness. Terrific palate. Fleshy and so pure. Sappy and sweet. But also a wonderful sweet/sour edge. Amazingly purity. This is so nimble and elegant. Nose gets more complex by the minute. The sous bois is cranking. So elegant. Velvety sweet tannins of very high quality. Unreal purity and depth. This is stunning. So close to a 9.5. — 4 years ago
