Had this 1year ago. Founded in 1979 by John Shafer, went from riding trains in Chicago to riding a TD-9 tractor in Napa. Blend of 56%Merlot, 28%Cab Sauv & 16%Malbec, aged for 20 mos French oak, despite 15.3% ABV, it’s well balanced. Wonderful berry fruit aromas, flavors of cherry, jammy blackberry and rasp with notes of cacao and sweet herbs. Lingering finish ending with earthy mineral. Had this with a USDA prime Fillet. Drink now & over next few years, any longer the wine will lose vibrant quality. Nice! — 7 years ago

2009 Sauv Blanc / 14.5% .. Feels like we're in Jura. — 9 years ago
Fantastic NZ Sauv Blanc! Attractive light green; gooseberries(!), grapefruit, clean apple cider, with a faint hint of green peppercorns, cooked sage, and line zest; stunning acidity and tightrope balance. Could drink this every day! Absolutely fantastic with grilled lobster and monkfish. — 10 years ago
Delicate, vibrant and expressive... This Sauv Blanc is everything...
Grapefruit, ripe pear, jasmine tea and white peach. Long finish ! Enjoyed by itself but could pair well with lots of foods! — 10 years ago
Won 2nd place in our blind sauv blanc tasting! Definite California sauv, tons of body — 11 years ago
Good solid NZ sauv blanc — 12 years ago
The signature wine from the exquisitely tended Puente Alto vineyard, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and espresso notes, a blend of 91% Cab Sauv and 9% Cab Franc, aged for 15 month in French oak (66% new). On the palate pronounced flavors of black cherry and plum with herb notes. Firm grippy tannins, long finish ending with herb tobacco notes, still tight needs time. Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Very dark enticing red with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Firm but approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Best to drink ‘14 now. Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago

Best example of NZ Sauv blanc out there. Paired really well with Dan Dan noodles, surprisingly — 9 years ago
Fresh peach and soft floral notes rather than your typical sauv blanc herbacious ones. Lovely palate and good acid. — 10 years ago

Owes name to man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees, later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. Blend, 57% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 5% Petit Verdot & Cab Franc, aged in new French oak for 18 months. Pronounced youthful black fruit aromas with earthy baking spices. Blackberry & plum palate flavors with cedar & spice integrated with firm tannins, long ending, earthy oak with a mineral tang. Needs more bottle age! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
Some earthy notes which was not expected of NZ Sauv. — 7 years ago
Full-bodied, emphasis on kiwi/honeydew over citrus with some floral undertones.
Delicious but I wonder if even a superior Sauv Blanc justifies the price. — 9 years ago
Full body, but as bright and citrus as other sauv 's — 9 years ago
12' It's one of the best Sauv Blancs in the country! This wine is aging wonderfully. Tangerine, peach, splash of orange. Beautifully integrated acid. I just don't know if it gets much better. If your not a fan of their REDS, please don't dismiss this amazing Sauv Blanc. — 10 years ago
2014. Bright citrus acidic sauv blanc with smoothness from blended chard — 10 years ago
Crisp, floral and a little effervescent one of my fav Sauv Blancs ever! — 11 years ago
I know there's an argument to be made for where the best Sauv Blanc comes from, but I truly love New Zealand. If you want pure tropical fruits and super crisp acidity, NZ can always be counted on. This bottle is no exception, and a bargain to boot. — 11 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
A blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot and Syrah. Deep Ruby with aromas of black and red fruits and floral spice aromas. On the palate black cherry and blackberry flavors with licorice, espresso and sweet oak spice. Smooth and refined tannins, long ending with fruit and sweet earthy tones. Consistent quality and good value. Had 2 bottles in the last month, they are great. — 5 years ago
